The O.C. may be over, but the show's creator is still alive and kicking. Yesterday, as Fox was canceling the SoCal teen drama, CW picked up Schwartz's pilot Gossip Girl. The day before, NBC picked up his pilot for Crumbs.
Gossip Girl, green-lit in August, will be the CW's first scripted pilot. The show, based on a series of books of the same name, will revolve around the world of New York teens and their parents. The stories will be told from the vantage point of an unnamed blogger.
"It speaks to the culture that we live in now and the way that kids communicate," Schwartz told Variety.
Action-drama Crumbs follows a man who has downloaded the entire CIA database into his head.
Both pilots will be produced by Warner Bros. TV, where Schwartz has a seven figure production deal. Warner Bros. TV also produced The O.C.
Yesterday, Fox announced it would end The O.C after four seasons. The final episode airs February 22.

I am very upset about them cancelling the show. I would have to say this is my all time favorite show. I probably have got hundreds of people to starting watch this show. I am begging and pleading that some other network picks this show up. I wish they would be considerate to the fans and keep the show going. I loved the OC and I do not blame Josh for it getting canceled. I agree that it has not had the greatest ratings recently but I think that instead of canceling it Fox should move it to there sister station of My Network TV. I am sure the OC will do ten times better than the two shows on My Network TV.
I don't understand why they cancel show that do so will to put other show that might do will....Sometimes i think they should take off some of these reruns and put new shows in their place and that way they can keep the good show on and not have to cancel them.

Well to be fair I'll check out Gossip Girl.And to The O.C. fans. Does it really make a difference if he created the show or not? Come on. Grow up and support the show if you like it. Don't completely discard it for the reason is that you hate the creator. Sure discard it if you think the description sounds horrible or for other valid reasons.
I was always convinced since the ending of Season 2 that Josh and the rest of the OC crew would try to lift OC up again but no! They just gave up on it completely forgetting that Millions of people around the world completely loved the show. Myself I felt a connection to the show and completely loved it. When I found out it was being cancelled I was both sad and confused because I really thought they would at least try fix it. I really hope another Tv network picks OC up or even that Fox reconsiders their decisions because the OC fans are still out there waiting for the good old OC to come back.

I've been a big fan of the OC since the beginning, I feel that Josh let us all down by not paying enough attention to the show in Season 2 and 3 and now it's been cancelled. If the show doesn't get picked up by the CW Network I'll never watch another thing he does, ever.

I support Josh's decision. I am an OC fan but sometimes we just have to let go. It had a good run. I just wished it would end with 100 episodes but that's not to be. It sounds like Gossip Girl is a good 'teen-centric' TV show and I'd like to see the pilot before I bash Josh for ending The OC.

I'm still completely in shock about the end of The OC as it hit me by surprise this morning. And I don't think any of those new shows can seriously replace The OC "in our hearts" :D But I'm gonna watch it, just to check it out. I mean, Josh created a great show with The OC and convinced me right from the start. So I guess that the new shows must be good as well and if the pilot convinces me... well, let's wait and see. But it's not The OC... :.-(

Did anyone ever think that maybe Josh gave up on the O.C. becuase it was clear that FOX was going to, and he wanted to end it on his own terms??? I am a fan of the OC, but its cancelled, its done. Lets enjoy the time we have left instead of all these bickering.

Im not sure either wheter or not I'm gonna watch his shows aswell. I do like tv shows that Josh Schwartz creates, but I always get disappointed when they end after a few years. Specially because the shows are doing just fine and Josh always reacts like: "This was the right moment to cancel the show". Don't give me that "blabla", Josh! Fight for your damn shows! Make them more interesting! Don't just let networks cancel your show and then say: "oh well, it was the right thing to do..." (cos it was not! (in my opinion))

IDINOI, oh cmon... It's not about how many fans a show has... DO you really think a network cancels shows based on the number of fans a show has?The OC had awful ratings this season, + it had already gotten a 16 episode order... Josh isn't the one to blame... What kinda creator would want his show to get canceled? Both shows sound interesting... :P
