Has anyone else noticed that Pam's (Jenna Fischer) been pissy ever since The Office wedding? Sure, she's got a lot to deal with. She's six months pregnant. She's a salesperson now. Her husband was just promoted to co-regional manager. Her mom is dating the other co-regional manager, who happens to be Michael Scott (Steve Carell). And Michael just dumped her mom. But did Pam really have to punch him? It was totally out of character—and a little too cheap for The Office.
And what about her having the "lowest sales performance" and the "worst attitude" in the office? Her sour face has been dragging on for a few weeks now, and frankly, it's a huge downer. I'm all for characters maturing and developing, but she's taken a turn for the worse. She complains, she whines, and Jim (John Krasinski) is now legally obligated to give her his shoulder to cry on. It's exhausting to watch—and it's definitely unfunny.
The Office was doing so well, too. The wedding episode was a smashing success, the pregnancy jokes have been fresh, the show has been giving more play to characters like Oscar (Oscar Nunez) and Creed (Creed Bratton) and the online extras have been hilarious. Can one bad apple really spoil the whole barrel of laughs? I really hope not.

I'm so glad someone mentioned this! I am so dissapointed in her character's attitude lately. Pregnant really is no excuse...it's still a comdey (for the record I have an infant...so I do know the pregnant thing well). In reference to the episode where she found out Michael was dating her Mom....her lines and her delivery were mean, cutting, and not at all funny. Then last week, the hitting episode wasn't funny either. NBC-please stop taking Pam's character in this direction...it's odd and not fun (or funny) to watch!!!I'd be interested if Jenna feels the same way?! I would.
You know what, thanks for mentioning that finally someone understands. I mean it's great that things are finally right for her but this attitude persona she has recently taken on is killing her slowly. do you notice her face now and compare it to previous episodes something is definately not working
She's pregnant, that's what is up with Pam. I'm not knocking pregnant women, they have a lot to deal with and get my respect, but being pregnant sometimes puts women "out of character" in real life. My wife and the woman I work next to in my office are both currently 8 months pregnant, so take it from me (I've been around pregnant women 24 hours a day for the past 8 months), the show is being realistic in her portrayal in it's own outlandish way. Some pregnant women fly off the handle more than they normally would if they weren't pregnant
Can't this be justified since Micheal DATED HER MOTHER?!?!?!?!?
She's been getting like this, I think, since Season 4 started (since she and Jim started getting together). It was fine until this season, then she really just became irritating. Pam from the early seasons was one of my favorite characters. Now I just cringe when I see her come onscreen.
Yeah I noticed that there has been a real bee in her bonnet but this season has been so strong that it is hard to complain about it.
I think we need to be patient and see what happens. She has lots to deal with, with so many new things going on, but her good character will prevail, I think.
Who knows? What is up with Pam??
