If you're hoping The Pacific, the upcoming HBO miniseries about the Pacific Theater during World War II, will be similar to its spiritual predecessor Band of Brothers, you might be in for a surprise. Two new trailers for the 10-part series indicate that The Pacific will include much more of the soldiers' lives outside of the war, compared to Band of Brothers' larger focus on the men of Easy Company.
That's not necessarily a bad thing. The psychological ramifications of war on those who participate in it and on those in relationships (familial, romantic, etc.) with said participants is a fascinating subject. Let's just hope it isn't cheesy like Michael Bay's 2001 film Pearl Harbor.
The Pacific debuts on Sunday, March 14 on HBO.
