The TV Return of Jason Lee

...Fear not My Name Is Earl fans. Your lovable lump will return to the airwaves, only as a different lovable lump. Jason Lee has signed on to star in the hour-long TNT pilot Delta Blues, about a policeman who works nights as an Elvis impersonator. George Clooney is producing the series, which sounds like one of those Southern-fried, funny/sad slice-of-life things. Which Lee ought to be good at. [THR]

...Say what you will about Lifetime movies, but they certainly should win some sort of award for assembling strange casts. Take the ghostie Secrets in the Walls, for example, which stars former Borg robot-person Jeri Ryan and English Academy Award-nominee Marianne Jean-Baptiste. Wacky combo! Anyway, the movie's about a woman who moves to Detroit only to find that her house is haunted. Jeez Louise, the poor lady. Detroit is already scary enough without the ghosts. [Variety]

...Gretchen Mol, that actress who flew too close to the sun back in the late '90s but has slowly and admirably been working her way back up, has been cast as a showgirl in that new, hotly-anticipated Marty Skorksee HBO series Boardwalk Empire. That's a pretty plum part on a show that ought to be a big old hit, at least critically. [THR]

...Oh lord, batten down the hatches. Fox has renewed The Wendy Williams show for the 2011-2012 season, to be aired in New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Philadelphia and Dallas. If you do not live in one of those cities, fear not. You are safe. For those of us who do? Well, it's been an honor serving with you and I wish you luck. Maybe a few of us will get out alive and live to tell our story. Earn this. [Variety]

...Aw. Former cutie-patootie turned baldie-waldie Ethan Embry has signed on to play in the ever-growing cast of that new USA show Facing Kate. It used to just be called Kate, but I guess that was too vague. So now it's called Facing Kate and will be about people just standing really close to Kate, looking in her eyes. If this show were on the Spice Channel but had the same title, it would be about something very, very different. But it's not. So get your mind out of the gutter. [THR]

...Alohomora! Daniel Radcliffe has agreed to voice a character in a future episode of The Simpsons. It'll be next year's "Treehouse of Horror" installment, and he'll play Edmund, a sexy vampire that Lisa falls for, in an obvious Twilight parody. Now let's get Rupert Grint to do something. [EW]
