The Walking Dead Renewed for Season 9 with a New Showrunner

The Walking Deadwill continue to fight zombies for another season.

AMC announced Saturday that the zombie epic has been renewed for Season 9 with some significant changes behind the scenes. Scott M. Gimple has inked a new deal that will make him Chief Creative Officer of The Walking Dead franchise, putting him in charge of the flagship show, Fear the Walking Dead and any further brand extensions.

Angela Kang, who has been with the series since 2011 and co-executive producer since 2013 has been promoted to executive producer and showrunner for the upcoming season.

For Fans of The Walking Dead's Daryl, 2017 Was a Rough Year

"The Walking Dead is a special show which started in an entirely different era of TV, and continues, in this new era, to confidently take chances to tell compelling stories that excite audiences and make them deeply connect with its characters, adapting Robert Kirkman's brilliant comic book," Gimple said in a statement. "As the show closes in on its tenth year, I'm honored to keep working with the talented, dedicated people behind and in front of the camera to make it all it can be, while expanding the world of The Walking Dead with new narratives like Fear the Walking Dead and a whole host of truly cool stories ahead. Angela is a big part of the heart and soul of The Walking Dead, and I'm thrilled to help facilitate her vision of the show's next era."

The Walking Dead has seen its ratings decline over the past two seasons, but it still remains the No. 1 rated drama on television, as it has been for the past six seasons. Series stars Andrew Lincoln and Norman Reedus are expected to return for the new season but are in the middle of contract negotiations, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Season 8 concluded its midseason finale last year with the death of Carl (Chandler Riggs). The Walking Dead is expected to return in late 2018.

First of all, Season 8 has not "concluded" yet, it's only midseason now. Secondly, Carl did not actually die yet, but will be when Season 8 returns........
Who reports this shit and gets paid.............?
