Can I hype this show enough? Apparently not. AMC's The Walking Dead, which once seemed like an eternity away, is lurching onto YOUR television screen this October. Production is already underway on the six-episode first season, and the first full-cast photo has now been released.
Let's just say this: It's awsome.
The new pic shows our heroes in the flesh-and-blood: Andrew Lincoln as Rick Grimes, Sarah Wayne Callies looking great as Lori, youngster Chandler Riggs as Rick and Lori's son Carl, and newcomer Steven Yeun as Glenn.
Many of the actors seem lifted straight from the comics that serve as the inspiration for the show. We're still waiting on our first look at the show in action, though.

Shotgun. Reason being, shotgun ammo is plentiful and at close range that weapon can decapitate. Ideally though, if we go by the Zombie Survival Guide, we should be looking for a .22 instead of any of the options given by the post.

Looking forward to the show, have heard great things about the comic.Weapon of limited choice: I'll take the shotgun, too much close range combat is a recipe for death by eventual bite or blood splatter. If you need to use it to bludgeon, it can be a substitute bat. Avoiding close contact, forget the chainsaw,too much blood splattering. Depending on the type of zombie outbreak and you're 'secure' location, there's probably little hope for 'normal' to get back. Hopefully I'm on the isolated island with sufficient food, line of site, and no other creatures about.

Shotgun - use it to blow the lock on the tank shop in our local highstreet, then just ride around flattening all the mean old zombies and any mean old non-zombies who'd recently psd me off :)

Shotgun no question. Its good for large numbers of Zombies and you don't need to get close. Also it'll physically push them back from the impact and Shotgun shells are ridiculously common. Just find a police station somewhere and you'll be set for a long time. Also you can still use it as a club after you run out of ammo so you get the effect of the bat pretty well,

Aluminum baseball bat.Basically because of the reasons others have stated; it's not reliant or dependent on something else (such as bullets, fuel/electricity). Plus, if my softball days were anything like I remember them, I had a pretty good swing :)
Shotgun!!! You are right the chainsaw needs fuel and is pretty heavy by the way and the shotgun needs bullets but i can use the shotgun like a bat when i ran out of ammo... ;)
If these were my only choices I'd probably go with the baseball bat, though my personal favorite is the machete.
The comic book is great, cast's looking pretty good and the answer to the question for me it would be the baseball bat cuz it doesn't need any ammo nor it needs any fuel to function and besides its more fun to bash zombies heads with it (not that I would know that from experience LOL).
I know i'm going to regret this, but i'd go with the baseball bat, since if i am going to die, i'll take a few of those rotten creeps with me!

A shotgun. Maximum range and unlike a chainsaw it needs no fuel and if you do happen to run out of bullets it doubles as a club.
u people should know a little about the subject matter, ie the comic book series before u comment on the potential of this show, which is great
Baseball bat. Gives you the distance you require, reqires no ammo or reload time and is about as versatile as they come. Not to mention when you are running you want less to carry and something quick to the drawer... Chainsaw is the WORSE possible option. Requires you to be close and is extremely messy and unreliable.
The shotgun is a long-range weapon but has limited ammo. However, once it's empty it can still function as a club. The baseball bat doesn't have ammo but is a close-range weapon. You have to get near the zombies to use it. Same problem with the chainsaw, and the chainsaw also requires gas to be useful. As well, the chainsaw can do major damage but splatters, and if there's some disease in the zombie blood there's a chance of getting infected. So the best weapon would probably be the shotgun provided you had sufficient bullets.
Yes, baseball bat is the correct answer simply because it will never run out of fuel and ammo. And I made it aluminum because a wooden one would break. To all of you who said bat, congratulations. You have survived the zombie apocalypse. Everyone else, you're dead. But keep the Left 4 Dead references coming! PILLS HERE!
I don't know why but I have the feeling this could easily go so very wrong. But I'll check the pilot out anyway I hope to be pleasantly surprised with it.
And I'd choose the shotgun for the obvious multipractical uses:First shoot them from a distance till you run out of ammo then hit them over the head with it. But I still think an axe would work better since they might not die from just getting hit on the head and it might damage the gun itself, plus I have no idea how to actually shoot a gun and would probably be one of the first ones to go zombie once the zombie apocalypse starts. I'm giving this too much thought...
Baseball bat. Bats don't run out of ammo or gas, need to be reloaded or refueled, and depending on the fighting prowess of the user, can take down large numbers of zombies with some really hard hits. Always go for melee range coverage before going for guns and other weapons if you have the chance.
can't wait for this show, i really hope it's similar in style to dead set, or dawn of the dead

I am so excited for this show, it is not even funny.
Well, my initial choice would be a shotgun - a chainsaw would be heavy, unwieldy, I wouldn't be able to tell when it was about to run out of fuel, and I would be more likely to cut my arm off than a zombie's head.
However, if the crisis lasts long enough, the baseball bat would be the default weapon, as the shotgun would run out of shells at some point.
I am interested to see this show.
Shotgun hands down... the cast looks great except for rick. I am a bit worried about how censored this is gonna get because its a pretty strong comic if you know what i mean. Its surprisingly disturbing sometimes. I read the part of the pilot script and it seems that it is faithful to the comic book. But what i really hope is that this show does not get "softer" than the comics. Thats all i ask. And did someone asked for L4D? PILLS HERE!!! xD

Shotgun is multifuctional, can be used as a bat and the shells are useful for when your in a pinch.
they need to make it quirky and dark.. it definitely has a ton of potential! zombie television series? so there.and to answer the question : shotgun if i had to choose.. it's deadly but keeps you at a safe distance.
bat, longevity, unlimited use, and handy as a tool. add some spikes to it with ablowtorch and u have all the fp u want against dumb zombies. But if ur up against Dawn of the Dead (new on) type zombies, ill probly opt for the shotgun.
Shotgun - I'll keep the bullets for emergencies and will bash them with the gun itself, especially if the bas*ards are fast...
