Tense times for the judges as competition favourites get the boot.
The X Factor has said goodbye to its second evictee, James McNally, who was eliminated from the talent show on Sunday night.
James' mentor Ronan Keating also felt the sting of the competition, with both acts in the bottom two coming from his Over 25s category.
Joining James in the bottom two was Amanda Grafanakis, who had been lauded as one of the strongest contestants on the program.
Natalie Imbruglia and Guy Sebastian opted to give James the boot, while Kyle Sandilands opted for Amanda.
Refusing to make a call between the two contestants, Ronan made sure that the vote was tied, meaning that the final decision was left to public vote.

It does seem a pity that he's gone; however, in these reality programs it's not unusual for the older performers to lose out to their younger competitors.
