"Now turn around and call me Daddy. Simon says."
I don't know about you, but anytime I turn on the TV and some unknown isn't singing one of the decade's poppiest of ballads directly in my face I feel unnerved. The country's obsession with singing competition shows lives on, so of course Fox has renewed The X Factor for a third season.
The current second season of The X Factor, which was revamped after the first season because it didn't shower creator Simon Cowell with ladies' underwear like he'd planned, is averaging a 10.6 million viewers and a 3.9 rating in the adult demo, according to Fox. And the way network ratings are slumping, a solid performer like that will have network execs throwing cash at it.
The X Factor will start its live episodes with its Top 16 performers beginning November 1. In addition to seeing Mario Lopez's dimples in high-def and Khloe Kardashian's... ummm, Khloe Kardashian's... uhhh... Khloe Kardashian, maybe now we can finally get some psychotic breakdowns from Britney Spears. Chug a few Pepsis and let the caffeine and sugar do its thing, Brit-Brit!
