There's a Big Friday Night Lights Reunion Happening

In June 2015, at the ATX Television Festival, the cast of Gilmore Girls reunited for the show's 15th anniversary. This year the festival is going bigger by not just reuniting the cast of Friday Night Lights (the Austin-based festival already hosted a reunion for the homegrown series its second year in 2013), but hosting a giant 10-year reunion party in the show's honor located at, where else, a Texas football field.

According to Entertainment Weekly, the reunion—which comes 10 years after the series premiered on NBC and five after the sun set on Dillon—will include a Panther meet-up with a pep rally, live music, various tailgating activities, and photo opportunities. This is, by and large, an extension of the festival's annual FNL tailgate, which features photo ops, live music, and drinks followed by a screening of an episode previously voted on by festival goers at dusk. Participants for the reunion will be announced at a later date.

Also on the festival's 2016 lineup is a reunion featuring the writers' room of The OC; a conversation with Tom Fontana (OZ, Homicide: Life on the Street) and David Simon (The Wire, Treme); and panels/screenings for Hulu’s Casual, Lifetime’s break-out hit UnREAL, The CW’s Jane the Virgin, and TV Land’s YoungerThe OC reunion panel currently includes creator Josh Schwartz, writer/executive producer Stephanie Savage, and writer Leila Gerstein. A reading of the show’s pilot script is also planned, with a special guest cast to be announced later. Last year's staging of a Dawson's Creek writers' room reunion and pilot script reading were big draws.

Previously announced programming includes an Everybody Loves Raymond reunion; a script reading of the Terriers pilot with creator Ted Griffin, executive producer Shawn Ryan, and star Michael Raymond-James; a Shield writers' room reunion with Ryan, Kurt Sutter, Glen Mazzara, Scott Rosenbaum, and Sarah Fain; and a panel honoring Norman Lear with the ATX Award for Television Excellence.

This year's festival is June 9–12 in Austin, Texas. Badges are currently on sale.

I'm really looking forward to The O.C. and FNL panel. I hope to see a lot of people from The O.C.

When I saw "Friday Night Lights" in the title, my first thought was that they were going to revive this show too.

Can I just partake in the festivities without buying a badge? @thekaitling

Last year, for the Gilmore Girls reunion, they sold individual tickets to the event and I assume they'll do the same thing this year. I think the real reason this is going to be outside and the full-on tailgate is because the Gilmore Girls reunion was very stressful BECAUSE they sold individual tickets, which meant that not all of the badgeholders could get in to the theater.

Well I mainly wanna explore Austin (never been), with my occasional peek at some cool ATX stuff.

Thought traveling to Texas in June may not be too smart haha.
