The WB is back, baby! The defunct television network is getting revived online in the form of TheWB.com, where it will stream old shows from its library as well as original content from some big-name television producers, Warner Bros. Television Group announced.
First hinted at over a month ago, the new online enterprise will play home to some of television's most beloved teen-aimed shows, including Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Gilmore Girls, and Veronica Mars. The episodes will be free and ad-supported, and will mainly target women in the prized 16-to-34-year-old group.
Other shows mentioned by Warner Bros. to stream online include Friends, Smallville, The O.C., Everwood, Roswell, The Wayans Bros., All of Us, and One Tree Hill.
In addition to streaming these shows online, Warner Bros. is partnering with cable operator Comcast to stream the aforementioned shows on Fancast.com and through its on-demand service.
Original content is also headed to the Web site, and it isn't film school grads uploading their student projects. Producers McG and Josh Schwartz (Chuck, Gossip Girl, The O.C.) are putting together a handful of projects for the site, as are half a dozen other television veterans.
TheWB.com will also--just like every other Web site out there--incorporate a social networking element, allowing fans to chat each other up about how awesome Tom Welling looks or whatever else is on their minds.
A beta version of the site is scheduled to open in early May. The company did not reveal how it will distribute beta invites.

The producers of Roswell can create a follow up series or movie. 'cause I think that it had a lot of loose ends. For example: Did Kyle got his powers or not? or Did Maria and Micheal got married, too? With who did Isabel spend her life with, Kyle or Jesse? Did Max saw he son agoin? or Did Max and Liz had a family of their own?
I am wandering what if the producers try to create a follow up series for Roswell. I think it is true, that it has a lot of loose ends. For example, Micheal and Maria do they get married? How about Kyle's powers does he gets them or not? How about Max's son, do they get to see him grow up? or With who Isabel spends her life with her husband Jesse or with Kyle?
Bummer I don't live in America...:( See, another good reason to emigrate! :P (No offense, I love Holland...kinda rainy, though)
WHY GOD???? WHY DON'T I LIVE IN UNITED STATES?!?!?!
Thank God I live in America. I feel sorry for all the non-US fans out there... :(
Good news, I never watched Veronica Mars or The OC and wanted a chance to watch them.
It sucks that it's only available in the u.s.! I'm in Canada and I can't even have access to the site
:(.
I wonder if they are going to put "movie stars" & "zoe, duncan. jack & jane" to
i hope they throw Jack & Bobby online at some point. i miss that show!
Too bad the WB can't come back as a cable network, with additional, original programming. The CW just doesn't cut it.
Thank Goodness!
Yay!!!
This is awesome! I miss Roswell and Buffy so much!! I hope they put up episodes of Angel too.
WOW OMG! BUFFY, ROSWELL, GILMORE GIRLS AND EVERWOOD!!
Fantastic! I miss Veronica Mars...
what about Savannah?
What about Angel and Charmed???
Brill idea! whoohoo!
OMG i can't wait.
That is great. I can't wait to see all my favourite shows that have ended.
They had quite a bit of really great shows on that network but they just put them in hard to compete time slots. Gilmore Girls and Everwood are prime examples! Everwood never really got its due but did last quite a while thou. Nice to see them getting them back out there for the viewers that may not have ever even seen some of the great shows that they produced.
I miss all of them
Awesome!
Great!
I will be heart broken if I can't watch in Canada
I hope people from outside the US will also be able to see it...
GILMORE GIRLS!!!! :D
Yes! They should have never merged, I lost my two favorite shows because of it. I hope they'll play Reba too!
Amazing news but I want them to show Angel, Charmed and Supernatural.
Why did I spend over a hundred bucks on V Mars DVD's when I could have just waited for this!
OMG so kewl, I miss The OC, Veronica Mars and Gilmore Girls!!
What an awesom new! I really miss Veronica Mars, Friends, The OC, Gilmore Girls and Everwood. Yay! :D
awesome
umm Angel should be part of this and Charmed lets see what else oh yeah Supernatural it did start on the WB afterall. Birds of Prey (hey I liked it lol) not sure if Xena and Herecules count or if they are syndicated shows but I do know they were on the WB for awhile
I'm in Canada so I probably won't get much outta this, but this is good for those who want to start watching older shows like Buffy but don't wanna get the DVDs, they should also put up Angel IMO that was one of their best shows. The WB is taking a step into the future of television, all they gotta do is get the content from the internet to the television screen for a reasonable price and they are golden.
Everwood seasons beyond the first is very exciting! Make sure to watch as many as possible so we tell those corporate idiots that releasing them on DVD is definitely a money maker!
Finally, now maybe I can see some of the Everwood season 2-4 eps, beings they won't make the DVDs anytime soon.
so glad this website is coming back. i remember how it used to look before it was redirected to the cw website. love this idea!
Cool :)
The only show mentioned that I like is Buffy. Since I have all 7 seasons on DVD, I won't have any use for this site. Besides, I don't like watching shows online because they're not completely ad-free and my computer tends to freeze up while watching even a short video.
Well if it means welcome back Buffy and Friends, I'm all for it.
alright-i gotta say im pretty siked about this. even though i have gilmore girls, friends, and veronica mars on dvd, i would really like to catch up on one tree hill and start watching everwood..so two thumbs up from me!
Oh awesome. I hope they also bring Angel back. :D This is great. I missed WB so much.
Is there any info about if it can be viewed by viewers outside The US? (I doubt it, but the ability of southparkstudios.com gives me hope for this new website) Because it sounds like frakin' heaven. And when I go to the US next year, I won't have to store my OC-episodes on my iPod, I can just watch them online whenever! Awesome.
I am just so excited about this!
This sounds great!
it'd be great if people outside US could see it
thats awsome why would anyone even need a tv anymore
i just hope its not restricted to people that live in the US
welcome to the new age of TV. PCtv no need to wait till primetime on a certain day of the week. Having schedules shuffled around more than a deck of cards, just click and watch what we want when we want
CharmedOneP391 - yeah, even with Dawson's Creek. I think its with Sony?
