"MacGruber? Really? That was a horrible sketch. Why make it into a movie?"

Because I believe (I'm not sure, I don't watch SNL, but I heard about it on a "movie review & preview" podcast) it's currently the ONLY repeating character on SNL. And if it's not the ONLY one, it's apparently the most popular one. Plus Lorne Micheals has made "SNL movies" out of a LOT less (and out of a lot worse!), and he still claims that, besides "Stuart Saves His Family", EVERY 'SNL movie' has made money [including "It's Pat"!!).
