TNT Renews Franklin & Bash

Have you been wrongfully renewed? Call us, Franklin & Bash!

... TNT has renewed Franklin & Bash for a second season. The legal drama starring Breckin Meyer and Mark-Paul Gosselaar as street-wise lawyers has averaged almost 4 million viewers an episode in its first season. I watched about 15 seconds of it and immediately felt sick to my stomach. Even more nauseating, I just realized that TNT chose to renew this over the excellent Men of a Certain Age. Barf. [TNT via press release]

... Curb Your Enthusiasm is generating lots of enthusiasm in its eighth season. Sunday's episode was the comedy's most-watched episode in seven years, with 2.9 million viewers over two broadcasts. That's a huge chunk up from the season premiere. If you didn't see the episode yet, do yourself a favor and watch. It's fantastic. [Deadline Hollywood]

... Ringer has recast the role of Juliet, a trouble-making teen. Zoey Deutch has replaced Caitlin Custer, who played Juliet in the pilot. But then again, you probably haven't seen it yet so it doesn't matter anyway. Unless your name is Caitlin Custer. [TV Guide]

... The Big Bang Theory's Kaley Cuoco has been named the host of the Teen Choice Awards. Sorry Kaley! [ET Online]

... Look forward to a The Nanny reunion when Charles Shaughnessy and Renee Taylor join their former castmate Fran Drescher on TV Land's Happily Divorced. They'll each play guest roles in the upcoming second season. [TV Land via press release]

... Smallville is getting quite the collector's item for its sendoff. Smallville: The Complete Series DVD box set will feature 62 discs and sell for the low, low high, high price of $339.88. Look for it in late November (or under your Christmas tree in December is you're good!). [TV Shows on DVD]

... Former-ish Gossip Girl and current wild child Taylor Momsen has turned 18. Pervert. [Celebuzz]

... And in sad news, because I always like you to leave News Briefs sullen, Tom Aldredge has passed away at the age of 83. Aldredge played Hugh DeAngelis in The Sopranos, Uncle Pete in Damages, and Ethan Thompson (Nucky's father) in Boardwalk Empire. I loved this guy. :( [NY Times]

I'm deeply hurt by what you wrote about Summer Glau and her fans and i hope i'm not the only one. I'm a huge fan of Summer Glau but that doesn't mean automatically i'm a stalker or a nerd or both, unlike what you're implying in your article.

Summer Glau has played two of the most iconic characters in scifi history but i doubt these characters would have had this impact without Summer Glau's subtile and inspired performances.

Summer Glau carries herself with dignity, and appreciates her fans as much as they appreciate her as a result. She is so talented, driven, and engaged that she excels almost immediately in any part she plays. She is as beautiful on the inside as she is on the outside and she has a raw and pure talent that allows her to breathe vivacious life into her characters.

Scifi shows have a tendency to get cancelled on broacast tv these days and Summer Glau is tycast, this is true; i don't recall Miss Glau played on The Event, No Ordinary Family, V or Flasforward though.

I can understand some internet users want to sound funny by mentioning the so-called Summer Glau curse but this is inadmissible when it comes from someone who claims to be a journalist and write in such a famous website. Not to mention this is insulting for her fans and for herself.

And don't tell me that i have no sense of humour, or that it was not meant to be taken seriously or that you're a great fan of hers as they say each time. That doesn't remove one inch of the feeling to have been insulted. less less

Franklin and Bash is fun to watch and loved the news about the second season. Men of a Certain Age was horrible, I watched the first half dozen episodes but just couldnt get into it, mindnumbingly boring, the pace is slow, the acting is horrible, but I guess that is due to the unimaginative scripts and directing. And pay close attention, both shows are the same thing, people having successful and non approving fathers, people having problems with their wives/girlfriends etc its the same crap over and over, but franklin and bash delivers it in a more amusing package, give me men of a certain age and give me an ice pick to shove through my eye socket

Franklin and Bash is f****ing horrible. Ok, I might be overreacting, but Men of a Certain Age was brilliant and the fact that more people watch this joke of a lawyer show is sad.

I was watching Franklin and Bash and couldn't stop laughing at the fact that they kept finishing each other's sentences. It is such a badly written show and the characters are so cocky and completely unlikeable.

TNT had a great law show with Raising the Bar! It kind of hurts to see how low Mark-Paul Gosselaar has stooped! ( guess we all need a pay check by the end of the week)

how about sticking to the news and leaving the bad opinions out?

the show isn't that bad...

Franklin & Bash is actually good, better than any of the other law crap on tv right now. i didn't want to like it soley because it's a lawyer show but i did.

i liked Smallville and all, but that's too much to pay for anything. also, it's not going to be on Blu-ray? WTF! definitely won't get it just because of that.

I watch Franklin & Bash, and enjoy it quite a bit, but I agree that it was no Men of a Certain Age, and would gladly sacrifice it to the glorious yet cruel TV gods for just one more season (or just one more episode even!) of Men. You know what, someone go get the robes and lamb's blood, let's do this thing.
