Tom Jones to sing with Gavin and Stacey stars

Gavin and Stacey's Rob Brydon and Ruth Jones will record this year's Comic Relief single alongside Tom Jones and Robin Gibb.

The comedy duo have teamed up with the musicians to record a special charity single in the guise of their Gavin and Stacey characters Bryn West and Nessa Jenkins. The single will raise money for the eleventh Comic Relief appeal, which supports those in need across the UK and in Africa.

Tom Jones and Robin Gibb will join the actors to sing a cover version of Dolly Parton and Kenny Rogers' classic duet 'Islands in the Stream' dubbed 'Barry Islands in the Stream' in reference to the hometown of Gavin and Stacey characters.

The duo will perform the track in the main Comic Relief show on Friday 13th March, and a comedy mini-film, shot in the style of the BBC3 show, will accompany the single. Click the video below to watch as Bryn and Nessa perform their single at the Karaoke World Championships in Las Vegas.

'Barry Islands in the Stream' is out on Monday, March 9th, and is one of two singles released for Comic Relief. The other will be a cover of Depeche Modes single 'Just Can't Get Enough' released by British girl-band The Saturdays. You can pre-order your copies here.
