When news broke that Arrested Development creator Mitch Hurwitz was working on a new show, fans of the unceremoniously canceled comedy perked up, hoping the new project would be at least a fraction as funny as Hurwitz's beloved show.
Those odds just got a lot better, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The new project, Sit Down, Shut Up, is an animated adaptation of a live-action Australian hit and Hurwitz has begun assembling the show's voice talent. Hoping to spark the same comedic magic from Arrested Development, Hurwitz has signed on three former Arrested cast members.
Jason Bateman, Will Arnett, and Henry Winkler will all lend their voices to the show, which is hoping to get approved by Fox. Being an animated show, Fox ordered a table read of the pilot script to get an idea of how it will do.
Also voicing the show will be comedy vets Cheri Oteri and Will Forte of Saturday Night Live fame, Regina King (The Boondocks), Nick Kroll (Cavemen), Tom "SpongeBob SquarePants" Kenny, and Maria Bamford (The Comedians of Comedy).
Sit Down, Shut Up follows staff members of a high school who put their own interests ahead of the students they are supposed to be mentoring.

David Cross please , the guy has the funniest voice !
sit down shut up was a show on in Australia around 2001, It was based on a group of teachers at a state school and there various bizzare habbits. The kids were rarely seen and not really heard. Was really funny. Stories like how the school installed a condom vending machine and two teachers decided to monitor it and demanded the students come with there intended lover and a note from both parents and also to tell them where they are going to do it before they get a condom. That sounds wierd but it was hilarious!!
Next Simpions/Family Guy?
The real question is what kind of animated show kids or older audience based?, i found this... http://www.tv.com/sit-down-shut-up/show/75287/summary.html and last time i checked 4kidstv is a kids animated saturday morning programing block. I watch programs from all over the world(courtsey of the web) I've never have heard of this australian show or heard about it and didn't find it interesting enough to watch. But from the little i read up on this could become a great animated show. Only and only if it's for an older audience based make it raunchy like the simpsons and family guy, hell put it on the sunday block and it will do great.
awesomesauce.
now just add a little david cross and we're back in business.
sweet

"I never thought it was that good...and apparently neither did most of America, seeing as its ratings always sucked"
Just to give a little insight; I'm a huge fan of both AD and Family Guy. I have been watching Family Guy since it first aired after the Super Bowl and having being watching Arrested Development, sadly, ever since it was cancelled.
Anyway, back to the topic, you can't judge a show completely on ratings. Look at Family Guy, it was cancelled twice because of "low" ratings. So don't say if a show is good or not just because of ratings.
Hey dgranitz2004, how smart do you think the American people are when they vote more for American idol than for the president election. Thank you for proving how smart the show actually was. Like that guy below said "go watch family guy"
I am not a fan of Arrested Development but I did watch one funny scene where Dan Castinella playing a funny doctor. Who knows with the animated show?
Arrested Development was genious. It didn't win as many awards and unanimously positive reviews for no reason. It doesn't have the massively growing fanbase for no reason. They aren't considering a movie for no reason. Maybe it was too smart for some people. Go watch Family Guy.
I never thought it was that good...and apparently neither did most of America, seeing as its ratings always sucked.
I have more faith in an animated show doing well on Fox than any other genre. So whoo hoo! A dose of AD would be awesome!
I LOVE ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT:D
Everybody I know with a stellar sense of humor loves Arrested Development. Period.
CrashMacKenzie needs to introduce himself to seppuku. The Half-Life icon isn't nearly enough to make-up for that act of blasphemy.
Why Fox again? They weren't playing nice for AD.
Arrested was amazing, you guys are crazy
i did not like the show either
whee!
Arrested Development sucked and deserved to be cancelled. There; I said it.
