Totally Tubular March 3, 2016: The Family, Damien, Of Kings and Prophets, and More (PODCAST)

I don't want to oversell it, but at a few times during this week's podcast, Tim emphasizes that this might be the worst slate of shows we've ever talked about in one episode. You can't click that play button quick enough! Look, it's not a great group, but it gives us the chance to ask important questions about hunky would-be demons, the imagined Vice audience, and sexy Nancy Drew. Sometimes eclectic is better than good, right?

As always, click below to listen to Episode 67. Please do us a favor and subscribe/rate on iTunes, and you can also subscribe to the show on Stitcher. We really want to expand the listener base this year, so please spread the word to anyone that you know who likes TV, podcasts, or men pronouncing names incorrectly. Here's the segment rundown:

... 01:33 – 14:49 – News Round-Up

... 14:50 – 28:13 – ABC's The Family

... 28:14 – 42:21 – A&E's Damien

... 42:22 – 50:29 – ABC's Of Kings and Prophets

... 50:30 – 01:03:09 – Viceland's New Offerings

... 01:03:10 – 01:22:20 – Mailbag!

This week's song: "Running With The Devil," by Van Halen

Last week's podcast, in which we talked about Fuller House, The Real O'Neals, and much more, can be found right here.

As always, we'd really love to hear from you folks. Leave your questions about anything TV-related in the comments, or get in touch with Tim and me on Twitter (@timattvdotcom and @corybarker).

Hey there guys! Hope you're doing well!

So, I was listening to another podcast completely unrelated to TV but they got to TV and somebody asked a really great question which I am about to steal right now!

If you had the power to erase any TV show from history which one would it be? You can choose between any genre and any timeline!

Really interested to see which show made you the most miserable!

Take care!

Hi Tim and Cory! It's Tom here, from Brazil. I'm a big Totally Tubular podcast fan and really enjoy your funny comments about Fox investing on cop shows over and over and how Netflix launches shows daily. Gilmore Girls casting week was funny too. I listen to the podcast at work and sometimes it's impossible to avoid laughing!

My question: I've been following both american and british shows forever and I wanna know from you two... What are your favorite international shows?

In a different subject I really would like to know why Cory dislikes House of Cards so much. Any specific reason?

Thank you so much. Best regards from Sao Paulo, Brazil.

Thanks for answering my question, I'll try to think of another one XD I hope you're right that networks are considering ways to reduce ad time.

Oh and for receipts: Go to CBS's website and look at the last couple episodes for The Big Bang Theory and Mom and you'll find some 19-minute ones in there. The last episode of Mom was only 18:49 and TBBT 19:01. So ridiculous (especially when TBBT airs in a 31 minute slot- that's 12 min of commercials!).

I have noticed a lot of shows seem to be taking more than a year to air their next season and this seems ridiculous in this landscape of 8-13 episode seasons.Maybe you could discuss this on the podcast.

Have you ever had a TV show you stopped watching because of lack of time, and always wanted to come back to it later, but never did get the chance/time? If so, which shows? It has been happening to me lately with all this number shows - some are good - but simply there is no time.

A new show from BBC which has got very good reviews. You may want to talk about it in the next podcast. Available on BBC iPlayer: THIRTEEN

In Damien they have characters just abruptly walk away as not to reveal the important stuff, in Blindspot they say something along the lines of "I'll tell you everything, but not right now", so my question is - is there a good way to handle a big burning question or mystery in TV show? What are some good examples if there are any? And why do you think they do this - dole out the good stuff, making us wait for a big reveal? Is it because an episode count is needed? Or they just don't know the answer themselves and make things up as they go?

You make me want to watch Damien. Sounds like the comedy of the year.

Giving again undue attention to a nothing channel with perhaps a catchy name but low level cheap crappy content. A channel most will never find or click unless they want a transvestite vacation. Wonder if they reward the attention. Cool LOL
