Trachtenberg goes to Washington in ABC comedy

Michelle Trachtenberg is set as the female lead in an untitled ABC comedy pilot set in Washington, DC.

The story follows an aide (Eric Christian Olsen) to a Democratic senator who falls for the daughter (Trachtenberg) of his boss' arch nemesis. Buffy the Vampire Slayer alumna Trachtenberg was recently in theaters with Black Christmas.

In other pilot news:

Harold & Kumar star Kal Penn is heeding The Call, an ABC comedy pilot about a team of LA paramedics. Penn will play one of them, a hypochondriac and pessimist. Also cast is Kali Rocha (ABC's Grey's Anatomy) as the paramedics' boss. Penn recently appeared in Epic Movie and is wrapping Harold & Kumar 2.

Jeffrey Tambor has joined CBS's comedy pilot The Captain, which stars Fran Kranz as a young writer who moves into a historic Hollywood apartment building. Tambor will play a retired TV writer who lives in the building. His recent credits include the short-lived NBC sitcom Twenty Good Years and Fox's Arrested Development.
