In this gargantuan Top 100 list, we go a little out of the box by looking at specific elements of television--both on-screen and off-screen--that we thought were the most memorable this year. We'll put up 10 more each weekday through January 2nd, so be sure to check the site often. Until next year, Happy Holidays!
60. 30 Rock's star attraction
Holy moly! Have you seen all these people trying to get guest appearances on NBC's barely watched 30 Rock? Jennifer Aniston, Oprah, and Steve Martin have all appeared this season, and Jon Hamm, Salma Hayek are yet to come. And now Diddy wants on? Tina Fey sure can draw them in... I wonder if she'll make this list somewhere?
59. ABC.com's video player
Of all the television networks, ABC's player is the most user-friendly. No clips impersonating full episodes, a good-looking interface, and an inviting presence. It's not pushing anything on you--it just wants you to watch some ABC hits. Plus, it still has every episode of Lost online. Score!
58. NCIS' Cote de Pablo
As Ziva David in CBS' resurrected smash NCIS, Cote is stunning, alluring, and whatever other words a thesaurus can pull up. Her back-and-forth with Tony is a joy to watch, and when she butchers the English language, it's adorable. Did we mention she's badass? No? Well, she's badass.
57. The evolution of the "showrunner"
The people who run the day-to-day operations of television shows have always been the brains of the operation, but thanks to the writers strike, many also became the face. Now the coolest job in television isn't the lead actor on a hit show, it's those who run the whole shebang.
56. The "I'm Not Here to Make Friends" YouTube clip
Reality-show-competition contestants are an interesting bunch. They're selfish, competitive, and generally not too friendly. That last part was driven home in this brilliant YouTube clip that pieces together contestants muttering some variance of "I'm not here to make friends" across a slew of shows. Yup, that about wraps it up.
55. The Office's rivalry between Andy and Dwight
At some point in The Office, Jim and Dwight just lost that fighting spirit that was so focal to the show. Enter Andy Bernard. He joins the Scranton office, steals Dwight's girlfriend (sorta), and IT IS ON.
54. The final Baltimore montage in The Wire
Series finales are almost always disappointments, but the last moments of the last episode of the last season of The Wire were a perfect sendoff to one of the best shows ever. A montage of the show's main character--the city of Baltimore--summed up everything the show was about: the citizens of a city struggling in a system corrupted by greed and crime.
53. Whedonesque.com
The center of the Whedonverse is Whedonesque.com, and if you don't know what I'm talking about yet, you can probably just skip on to the next item. Buffy and Angel creator Joss Whedon often drops by and announces news at this fan-created site, making it a must-see for any fan of Whedon's genius.
52. Cloris Leachman's Dancing with the Stars stint
This year's reason to watch ABC's dancing competition was veteran actress Cloris Leachman, an old lady who behaved like a 20-year-old attention whore. She had no shame in showing off her 80-year-old cleavage, and overstepped the show's bounds by pleading with the judges. Viva Viagra.
51. Shaved heads on Prison Break
Plenty of women would knock over their local liquor store if they thought they would be cooped up with the men of Prison Break as punishment. Dominic Purcell and Wentworth Miller not only have that attractive tough-guy look, their heads are perfectly shaped to get shaved. If Prison Break does end soon, we hope the stars bring their shaved noggins to their next roles.

30 Rock has been really good this season.
Cote de Pablo is great. She plays Ziva very well on NCIS.
I love shaved heads from Prison Break!!
:):)
I love Prison Break.
Yeah, I watched 30 Rock a bit more this season for the guest stars, and you can throw out the idea of 30 Rock being barely watched. It used to have very poor viewership, but this season it's been doing as well as Heroes in the 18-49 demo. (Although it's worth noting that Heroes is WAY down).
Speaking of Heroes, I echo Alen76ers in saying that I want something from Heroes on this list!
Not a bad "next 10" although I'm only a supporter of #53 - Whedonesque as Dollhouse is about to get started. A great website for everything Joss Whedon related although they don't take new users. Another reason why "Joss Whedon is my master!"
I love Cote de Pablo! And I still liked the Jim/Dwight pranks better than the Dwight/Andy feud.
I love the Andy-Dwight-Angela love triangle.....great stuff.
We surely hope to see more of Cote de Pablo! She is amazing!
I've been visiting whedonesque for yeaaaaaars. That was my first foray into the s***-storm that is fandom, fun fun fun! I don't like it now though, the place is terribly sycophantic.
I'm hoping Castiel's intro on Supernatural comes in this.
hahaha its so sad because I've already seen everything in that "I'm not here to make friends" clip. sooooo true about no.51
I'm not here to make friends...I'm here to say that.
I agree with your take on the Dwight/Andy rivalry. Even Jim could see that his pranks on Dwight were getting pathetic.
Whedonesque.com is awesome!
Not much agreeing on this round-up of 2008 faves. Cote de Pablo , of course, I'm a NCIS junkie, plus I'm chilean, so how can't I agrre with her been on these lists. And also of course, shaved-head-bruting-brothers INC, definitely some of the calssiest outlaws on TV.Season Greetings to all.
51. Agreed. Totally.
52. Not so much... actually it's kind of disturbing.
"I'm Not Here to Make Friends" is really funny. lol. I was laughing so much that I nearly fell of my chair. "I ain't here to make any friends", lol.
absolutely love Cote de Pablo she is amazing
Cote de Pablo as Ziva, she just Rocks!
tv.com has yet to reconcile with 30 rock after that emmy chat a couple years ago
yay for 30 Rock, Ziva, The Office and Joss Whedon!
ABC.com does have a great video player. In fact, I'd say it was perfect!
Yay! Ziva. She's funny, I like her chracter :]. And Cloris Leachman hahah, that was so crazy. Especially how she kept coming back week after week...
i definetly agree with everything they said about Cote's character: Ziva! happy she was listed :)
Yay Scofield, Burrows and Joss! :D
Good to see The Wire get a mention this is one GREAT show that overlooked one to many times, of course then it seems to be back to the usual crap like "hey look at the hoy guys from Prison Break!"
Yay for Whedonesque!
I'm waiting for something about "Supernatural". Frankly it's the BEST show on tv and all the industry people igore it. I would rather watch a re-run of "Supernatural" than a new episode of 99.9% of the junk on tv today. Still, I like "Prison Break" as well and they managed to reduce it to how hot the guys look with shaved heads. Like that's ALL there is to it.
I'm still waiting for something from Heroes. There is too much stuff about Lost. Seems like the TV.com admins just post stuff they like. C'mon, Heroes is always on the top 1 place, here on tv.com! Put something in this "Top 100 Everything of 2009"
