TV.com's Best Action Show Bracket: And Your Winner Is...

Whether we're in the midst of TV's latest golden age is up for debate. But what isn't debatable is that the action on TV is better than ever. From bloody shootouts plotted by practical effects to meticulously choreographed hand-to-hand combat to computer-generated monster attacks, the action is also more prominent and more diverse than ever. But which type of action is the absolute best? What shows consistently produce the best action on all of TV? It's time for you to decide. Welcome to TV.com's Best Action Show Bracket!

Well here we are. After four rounds, thousands of votes and comments, and more than enough controversy and rage, the Best Action Show Bracket has reached its conclusion. Without further ado, your winner in this very scientific and important challenge is...

Teen Wolf

That's right. We here at TV.com, with your help, have declared Teen Wolf, the best action show on all of TV. Teen Wolf fans, this is your chance to gloat! We never give you space to talk about your love for the show on this site.

Due to some of the issues with the poll—namely that people were seeing odd results—and that more than one person asked me how they could actively game the poll in favor of their favorite show (dedicated, you folks), I left it open a little bit longer than expected. By my count on the poll's actual pageTeen Wolf is the winner. But it was very close! You POI fans tweeting at me were no joke either, bravo. And if you're a big POI fan, take solace that you lost to the show that also buzzsawed through GrimmGame of Thrones, and Vikings. It happens.

I hope you enjoyed the Best Action Show on Television Bracket. Do you have ideas for another bracket-style competition we could do? Drop them in the comments and I'll absolutely steal them and pass them off as my own!

Back again! So happy Teen Wolf won (justly deserved) people who complained should at least check it out and see how the show has evolved. It's in a good, darker, more adult place and less fluff. I think putting the title aside, more people would enjoy it if they gave it a chance. Anywhoo, from what many people have said, I have finally given Person of Interest a chance! Ugh, what a bad decision at a busy time of my life! 5 episodes in and I'm hooked. Loving it, but can easily see why it didn't win for action. Great, but a lot of procedural stuff so far. But I can recommend both shows are worth watching. But wishing everybody good tune ins for this Fall, so excited!

Thanks for playing, everyone.
It got pretty ridiculous toward the end there. But it was fun and, somewhat, engaging.

So, @Cory, don't wait too long to do it again.

I'd like to recommend @Kameleon's suggestions:
1) Best "Will they? Won't they?" romance on television
2) Best Teenage show on television
3) Best Period drama on television
4) Best plot building show on television
5) Best character development show on television
6) Best binge-watching-friendly show on television
7) Best "guilty pleasure" on television

There's a lot of silliness potential in those.

Maybe, i just don't know how guilty pleasures get chosen. Despite the disputes, all the shows in this contest had action frequently or masterfully. Guilty pleasure implies a show is bad and you enjoy it all the same, and then you feel guilty and don't tell anyone? I don't know what it means!

If these shows are so good, why didn't their fans vote for them? It's not like TW fans are getting paid to vote. ^^
I don't watch Banshee, Daredevil, GoT, POI I quit, so there was only left TW and Arrow. And I voted TW and it was at the time, when the count said, that TW had only 20 votes. o.O When I came back and checked, it had won. Don't know, what happened in between, but I'm not complaining.

Fair point but maybe most didn't vote because the majority of the demographic that watches the really awesome action shows won't be voting on something like this. I didn't because usually you get someone or some people finding a way to vote more than once for a show they love. Anyway its just a fun way to stir up conversation online I guess.

I think, that would be a useless measure, as there's always a way for someone to find a way around obstacles. If you're savvy with computers, you can create multiple accounts and vote your *ss off. ^^
At the moment it seams, that everyone can vote as much as he likes, so all the fans can do that. Sounds fair to me. No one was holding back the fans of Banshee, POI or GoT.

"Sounds fair to me". Your comment on what may happen with on-line polls sounds reasonable. But not "fair". The "one-person-one-vote" principle is, for lack of any other system, the fairest way of judging merit (mind you, the poll was judging merit, not how much people love one show or another). Obviously, no one can keep others from acting any way they want (in this case, multiple voting) but I would prefer that we don't justify it by calling it "fair". Just a point of order, 'cause otherwise, congratulations to TW for having such a devoted fan base and to POI for coming in as a close second. Cheers.

It's fair, because that way, everyone can vote multiple times easily, the person in question just has to take its time for it.
If you put obstacles up, say like 1 vote per account, then you get only the specialists to vote multiple times, because not everyone is capable to go around those restricitions. I'd say, let everyone vote until their fingers bleed.
And don't take polls like that to seriously. At least, we have a solid winner and it wasn't "My Little Pony". ^^

I think it's fair because everyone had the same option to go vote as many times as they wanted. TV.com allows each member to vote freely and as much as they wanted to.

I'v voted for TW, just once every time, so I'm happy with the outcome. If any other show had won, it wouldnt have fazed me. After all, it's just a popularity poll, so why get upset and waste precious time? It's not like the outcome would change the course of the world.

Aug 24, 2015
Yes, very true and someone else stated this elsewhere. If it was only one vote per person, people would just create multiple accounts so that they could vote multiple times. Everyone had the option to vote (or not) multiple times in these polls.

I literally saw TW go up hundreds of votes in a few minutes and clicked on POI two or three times after refreshing just to see if the count would go up despite not changing computers, and it did, and that number was the same when I checked on my phone. So, sorry, but I don't trust the results. No way this show beat the shows that it did -- I think it was a couple of bored teens who love the show and spent a good deal of time skewing the results. I also think POI should not have gotten as far as it did, if people think I'm being biased. No offense to TW fans.

Oh, I understood what you intended. It just fell rather flat on its face, especially since you could not correctly quote what I said and took the rather inarticulate and childish "blah blah" to precede the "uh-huh". And my characterization was not offensive towards TW fans unless you choose to get offended by it, which you shouldn't. I can see it being offensive to the guilty teens, or even more so if it was adults, who were constantly refreshing the screen and clicking the TW button. And there is no way there were not people doing that because of how the number shot up so quickly.

Relax. If you like this show designed for teens, even as an adult, it's your prerogative.

It's really not that difficult to understand. In the second round, 446 people clicked on Strike Back while over twice that many clicked on Person of Interest. Since Strike Back couldn't even drum up 500 votes, it was going to lose to any number of shows. In fact, in that round, 6 of the 8 shows got more votes than SB. Simple maths.

I'm not surprised POI lost. The fandom now consist of bashing people with critiques of an episode and praising the EPs who refuse to compromise with CBS to possibly get more than 13 episodes. Since people can't trust polls like this, how about the Emmys where work is put in to make sure that the very best gets chosen? Then again, I keep hearing complaints about why AA and SS are nominated even though people know the answer already.

- those with capacity to get a new ip at will, can create new accounts and vote as much as they want that way. Loads of useless new accounts created just for that. People complaining that wtf rigged poll, lalala.

- those with more time and better networks can gather votes from social media groups, even from people that don't even watch tv. People complaining about the website not protecting the poll lalala

This website is loosing credibility by the day, especially when they decide to conduct polls with flaky results that change on their own. You can't have results that read 8642 in favour of POI and 154 for teen Wolf and just declare teen wolf to be the winner. Cory obviously prefers Teen Wolf to POI which is why he has declared it the winner even though POI had many more votes. It's the Bush administration all over again.
