TV.com's Swell-o-vision vs. Hell-o-vision (May 14)

Here's what we thought was out of sight and just not right on TV this week.

Swell:

... Kurt singing "Rose’s Turn" on Glee
Epic on so many levels.

... SNL's Mother Day episode bringing back the show's best leading ladies
We loved seeing Maya Rudolph, Ana Gasteyer, Tina Fey, and Amy Poehler again.

... Manny and Luke as roommates on Modern Family
They were like a pint-sized Felix Unger and Oscar Madison. Luke finally got some time to shine!

... Breaking Bad's legless assassin
The thing nightmares are made of: The Juarez assassin crawling out of his hospital bed to go after Walter White like he was the T-1000 from the Terminator movies. Yikes!

... Heroes finally getting the axe!
This needed to happen a so we can further ourselves as a society. Imagine if, years from now, aliens discovered our ruined civilization and found 15 seasons of Heroes. That would be embarrassing.

... Adam Scott and Rob Lowe's debut on Parks and Recreation
They fit in seamlessly, plus Adam Scott's character's back story was pretty stupendous. Mayor of his home town at 18? He's like the wunderkind of politics.

Hell:

... NBC's decision to cancel Law & Order
At least we'll have plenty of re-runs to console us. And these dogs.

... Jamie Foxx returning to Idol as a coach
His “stare down” approach has yet to prove effective.

... All the weird pregnancy shows on TLC
Paralyzed and Pregnant and Pregnant at 70? Creepy.

... Everyone but Ted acting out of character on HIMYM
We all knew Ted was an attention-starved snooty jerk, but what was with everyone else?

... Castle's Castle being a brat
Dude, she's gone. Stop pouting over Beckett and her new man and grow a pair!

... The Daytime Emmy nominations snubbing James Franco
It's a sad, sad world that doesn't understand performance art at its finest.

... The Betty White craze
Let's face it, this Internet stunt has gone on far too long.

What made your list of loves and hates this week?

I'm in agreement with a lot of people here. How can Supernatural's extremely epic season finale have not made the "Swell" list?! I am shocked! :0

I don't think the Betty White craze has gone too far, its nice to know that people still think of her as somebody they want to keep seeing on their tv. Though on Glee with Kurt's singing "Rose's Turn" I would say it was more Hell than it was Swell. I couldn't stand to watch him singing it. I also thought that Castle's little bratty antics were sort-of funny.

Franco was more of a guest star on GH and his acting and story did him no favors. Their were a lot of better actors than him on daytime this past year.

Why no love for Supernatural ? I'm pretty sure Lost is going to have a hard time making a finale as great as the one witnessed for Supernatural .

Daytime Emmys suck, how could they treat James Franco this way?! They should be so lucky to have him on daytime tv!

Loved Bones, finale of Vampire Diaries, Supernatural, Smallville. And Chuck getting renewed.

This list is mostly made of fail. Seriously, no Supernatural, two mentions of the Betty white stint on SNL, one in the good, one in the bad, and dismissing castle out of hand? And why is Heroes being canceled such a reason for celebration (in comparison to the awesomeness that was the season finale of Supernatural, it's not even a footnote).

How can pregnancy shows, daytime emmys and Idols be on this list but you make no mention of Supernatural's fantastic season finale?!? Not sure about the other CW shows, haven't watched Smalville's finale yet but Smallville doesn't exactly have the best track record of season finales but it has its moments so I'm not sure about that but I think it's more about good shows than CW shows really, it just annoys me that SPN gets passed over on this list a lot when Idol seems to be getting a mention every week

Fave moment of this week - this year - when Sam(fer) remembers his life with dean, and it all passes before his eyes - award-worthy.

Hell for me:
seeing almost every week on different shows a "xx hours earlier" episode.
It is not original, it is a cheap effect.

LOL about Castle. Just consider it a set-up for the finale...
As for TLC, almost all of their programming these days is creepy on some level.
