TV.com's Swell-o-vision vs. Hell-o-vision (April 22)

Here's what we thought was out of sight and just not right on television this week.

Swell:

... Anne and Leslie filling out Leslie's dating site profile on Parks and Rec
But seriously, how do we get a date with Anne? Meow!

... The mini-Glee parody on Community
There were plenty of amazing clips in this week's episode, but when someone takes a shot at Glee, it always gets our attention.

... Archer's Season 2 finale
So soon? It seems like our favorite cartoon just got back on the air! But the season-ender was great. Our favorite line: "It's okay, it was just cancer sex." Yeek!

... Western Wear for our favorite characters
Community's Troy and Supernatural's Dean became sheriffs in two cowboy-themed episodes.

... The Event's emphatic goodbye for Dempsey
He gives a speech, then shoots himself in the head. Bravo! This show makes no sense, and that's why we love it.

... BBC America is re-airing Battlestar
What's British about it, you ask? How about Jamie Bamber? Oh, who gives a frak. Any excuse to watch it again. Well, maybe not the final season, but the rest, yeah.

Hell:

... 30 Rock's bad timing
You give yourself an entire hour, and then devote a huge chunk of it to flashbacks of flashbacks? Aren't you above doing a clip show? It looked especially bad since Community satirized the form earlier in the evening, and did it better.

... This NY Times Review of Game of Thrones
Girls can't like fantasy? Illicit sex was thrown in to please the ladies? SOMEONE let their own misconceptions get in the way of a good time.

... IFC's Whisker Wars, coming in August
After watching this trailer, we think this extreme bearding—yes, extreme bearding—competitive reality show reeks a little of desperation and last night's meal. #canthelpbutthinkofallthosecrumbs

... Trump vs. Seinfeld
To summarize, Seinfeld backed out of doing a Trump-sponsored charity event cause he didn't like what Trump had to say about the president. Trump threw a hissyfit. But the real hellish nugget of this tale is Trump's roundabout and illogical rant. He wouldn't have stood a chance in debate club.

... NeNe Leakes and Perez Hilton's Royal Wedding Special
Quick! Conceive of the most unbearable single hour of television ever that isn't an episode of Real Housewives of D.C.! Okay, this nailed it!

Swell: Fringe. Always Fringe. I am more than concerned about the outcome of next episode. And what, exactly, is the meaning of the last episode's title. "The Day We Died"... not cool.

@boopsygirl You can't understand why anyone would watch Community? It's actually one of the funniest and clever TV shows on air at the moment. But you're right about the others. I also do not care for the rest at all.

I don't watch any of the shows listed, and don't understand why anyone else does.
I did watch the Bones episode with The Finder pilot. Did not care for it at all;the accent of Saffron Burrows was hard for me to understand, and the characters were not likable.

The Finder 'pilot' was pretty good. I'm looking forward to this one. Let's hope Fox actuly decides to give it 13 weeks or so. It would be a nice Summer replacement for Bones.

Swell: The Finder, I was all set to not like this pilot as I have been finding Bones boring, but I loved it. Looking forward to it getting started.

Give The Event a chance. What do you want? everything solved and resolved in Episode 1? Great, writers everywhere will be very busy and very happy if they don't go crazy first. No wonder mindless shows have the best chance of survival, that's what people want.

I absolutely am addicted to Game of Thrones. I am a girl and I don't care one way or the other about the sex in fact I figured they clearly put the sex in for the guys, much as sparticus has such an audience mostly they talk about the sex. In Game of Thrones its a story with a dash of sex, vs Sex with a dash of story.

I watched my last episode of The Amazing Race last night. The cowboys were the only reason I watched this lame excuse for entertainment. I didn't like this bunch of idiots and classless morons the first time they raced around the world. ( Cowboys not included ). And I like them even less this time. When a member of the Harlem Globetrottrers takes a leak in public and then his buddy insults the fine people of Vienna then it is time to change the channel. I stuck it out one more week but last night was the final straw. I hope this is the last time The Amazing Race brings back losers for another try at the million dollars. I want to dislike 11 new teams not the same ones I disliked last season.

Trump is just a "celebrity", no more, no less!

Fringe, but then again it always makes my list of loves. I felt like there was a little too much doom and gloom in "6:02am EST" compared with the previous episode. I mean I know the world's ending, but surely Walter can think of something if no one else can.

Hmm somethign tells me the author of the article in the new york times hasnt read the books or he would know sex scenes are common in them infact the scene where bran falls was described alot more than it was in the first episode. Also wth??? i read all the books before the show even started what am i a male in disguise? I know ppl blabber their opinions but i would expect smt better from someone associated with such a prestigious paper.

\"but when someone takes a shot at Glee, it always gets our attention. \"

Attitude perfectly called out in last week\'s episode when Gwyneth points out you\'re all just pathetic bullies with nothing to contribute of your own so you get mad and bully and push around others. Guess what? Glee has achieved more than you ever will in your sad, pathetic, **** life.

30 Rock was better than it has been in a while. A few things about the flashbacks: First, they totally DIDN'T devote a huge chunk to flashbacks. If you added them up, I would be surprised if they surpassed a minute. It was just super short clips sprinkled here and there. Second, they kind of did the Community thing when Pete tried to trigger a flashback and Liz wouldn't let him or when Danny "couldn't see the flashbacks" and was spliced with the Lonny flashbacks here and there. Very clever. Not this 30 Rock-bashing. Not clever.

Loved Game of Thrones (and I'm a girl), hated being violated by Bones. Seriously, I would've watched the pilot, didn't need it to be forced on me but now that you have I can say it's awful.

Community's "Paradigms of Human Memory" episode was awesome!!!!

Oh yeah, and the Finder-Bones thing. Don't piggyback a lame concept on your really good show. Even if that really good show is being drowned in product placements and bad dialogue for the star.

When exactly does BSG start on BBC? Cause I'd really really like to watch it.

@erhabori agree completely, can't stand when people try and generalize things to where girl's don't like this or can't do this, makes no sense.. has nothing to do with male or female.

It reall was a shame that 30 Rock was so terrible. But the Bake McBride reference at the start made up for most of it.

Parks & Rec had that hilarious scene in the beginning when Andy explained how Chris had taught him that food creates energy. When Andy showed how he burns energy with (*punch in the air*) "that's spaghetti, (*series of punches*) "nachos", (*high kick*) "it's a cookie", the face of Rob Lowe was absolutely priceless. He must have been close to bursting with laughter when they filmed that scene. And how about Archer? it really ended quickly! 13 episodes already? It feels like the season began just yesterday.

Yeah the NY Times writer is an idiot. Straight Up. and not because she didn't like GOT, but rather cuz she made no sense at all and is not very knowledgeable.// Swell: Umm.... hello?? GAME OF THRONES premiere!!! Hell: The NY freakin' Knicks, and Mets for that matter....

I totally disagree with 30 Rock, there was a strong sense of reminiscence and I loved the flashbacks! The episode was hilarious. You fail. Also the NY times review was terrible. Game of Thrones is great so far.

The Finder pilot that masqueraded as a Bones episode. The whole concept of Walter's character is so far-fetched and ludicrous it simply can't make a good TV show. Even if Michael Clarke Duncan is hilarious in it.
