TV.com's Swell-o-vision vs. Hell-o-vision (August 5)

Here's what we thought was out of sight and just not right on television this week...

Swell:

... Louie's particularly good "Oh Louie/Tickets"
The sitcom kitchen scene was a brilliant takedown of laugh-tracked family comedies. And honestly, we've never been so excited to see Dane Cook before—what a great way to address the two comics' real-life conflict.

Louie

... Web Therapy on Showtime
Are any of you guys watching? It's REALLY funny, with sharp writing and great performances. Lisa Kudrow is fantastic, and there are awesome guest stars like Rashida Jones and Lily Tomlin. We may've missed this when it was an actual web series, but now we can't say enough good things.

... These Saved by the Bell and Game of Thrones video games
The Saved by the Bell one is actually playable!

... Sasha and Ricky's Waacking routine on So You Think You Can Dance
Everyone was burning this number so bad, but we actually thought it was a season highlight!

... Alphas passes our four-episode test
A quartet of episodes into its first season, Syfy's newest offering is making a claim for best new summer show.

... Project Runway's Michael Kors
The man is the most hilarious judge on television.

Hell:

... The Bachelorette's dumb "Ashley + JP 4-eva!!" montage
We probably shouldn't be surprised. But mostly we just can't get over the fact that it was set to REO Speedwagon's "I Can't Fight This Feeling Anymore."

... Jersey Shore Snore
The Season 4 premiere was a total snooze; we can already tell that Italy limited what they could do and where they could do it. The Situation needs room to operate, bro!

Jersey Shore

... AMC's cost-cutting measures
Hey AMC, you know what would REALLY affect your bottom line? Ruining The Walking Dead and Breaking Bad.

... The people who run the Oscars
In one week they decided to give Oprah a humanitarian award and name Brett Ratner (of Rush Hour fame) producer of the 2012 broadcast. Will Chris Tucker and Jackie Chan host?

AMC are truly stupid if they try and mess with two of the greatest shows they have on that channel. Why don't they cut into Mad Men, that show is a snooze fest that comes on ever other year it seems. NEXT

Hell: My local station replacing RTN with some kind of lifestyle channel, although it did mean I didn't have to choose between a Saint rerun and Alphas. Swell: The Daily Show broadcast featuring both John Stewart complaining about British censorship and a segment on duck hunters complaining about a turbine plan because it would kill ducks. Also, Michael Westen on Burn Notice convincingly being more imperiled by homegrown terrorists than he usually is by professional criminals.

Louie was great, but Wilfred making not so sweet love to a stuffed Giraffe was the best.

Still trying to convince people that Louie is actually funny huh?? You guys must get money every time you do, because Louis CK is just not funny and that show wants so bad to be Curb but doesn't come close to Larry David's greatness. I watched the whole first series and barely laughed once, gave the first episode of this run a chance and it was awful.

It's a black comedy, the humor is more subtle. Take the recent subway scene, where Louie watched a homeless man clean himself in the middle of the station. Hard to explain.

"What? Breaking Bad and The Walking Dead are two of the most critically acclaimed series on TV? Lets make them worse!"

Also, I agree with Vidsignup. Ferguson is always awesome, but this week of shows in Paris were just as awesome.

Brett Ratner destroys everything he touches. Just look at what he did to the previous X-Men franchise.

How could you leave out Craig Ferguson's run in Paris? For shame.

you actually think Web Therapy is funny? i wanted to like this series so bad because i love Lisa Kudrow but it's completely UNfunny. and her fake voice is incredibly annoying. it takes all my will power not to just change channels. i have no opinion on anything else on this list and can't think of anything "hell" or "swell" that's happened this week off the top of my head lol

"If I could pray with my c.ock, I'd be much more religious" and Tyrion's level 4 limit break would be "Drinking and Wh.oring". (500 damage / 1000 Coolness)
