TV.com's Swell-o-vision vs. Hell-o-vision (June 10)

Here's what we thought was out of sight and just not right on television this week...

Swell:

... Black Swanson
Courtesy of Videogum's Tumblr.

... Werner Herzog on The Colbert Report
The legendary film director stopped the Report to promote his new film, Cave of Forgotten Dreams, and talk about cave porn.

... So You Think You Can Dance's Cat Deely
This year, the final audition episode was also the first performance episode, which means Cat Deely was front and center sooner than we thought. Also, the new batch of dancers looks pretty terrific, too.

... Promos for Rhett & Link: Commercial Kings
If this Cat Hotel commercial is any indication of what's in store for the rest of the season, we're pumped. And we know where we're staying next time we're in LA.

... This week's tearjerker episode of South Park
Watching Stan move on while his friends stayed the same was heartbreaking and oh-so-relatable. But the confession from creators Matt Stone and Trey Parker, disguised as a divorce between Stan's parents, really drove the whole theme of the episode home. Touching, sad, and one of South Park's finest.

... Norm's nephew visits Nitro X
Kyle's bizarre segments are the best recurring bits on Sports Show with Norm MacDonald.

Hell:

... The Voice's backup dancers
Don't get us wrong, we think this may be the best competitive singing show around, but those backup dancers who performed with Lily need to go back to miming school.

... The death of Singer-songwriter Andrew Gold, who wrote Golden Girls theme song
Thank you, Andrew, for being a friend.

... Bentley bashing on The Bachelorette
Are you kidding? He may be a psychopath, but at least he's the only one admitting Ashley is a disappointment and this show is a sham.

... The Critics' Choice TV Awards' Best New Series category
Honoring shows that haven't aired yet? Not even declaring a winner? Where's the sense in that other than to grease to palms of networks to gain favor? After a great first round of nominees, this thing is starting to look more like the Teen Choice Awards.

... Tyce Diorio as a judge on So You Think You Can Dance
Ugh, this guy is TV poison. Just the grossest.

... Tracy Morgan's Anti-Gay Rant
Maybe we had too many comedy heroes anyway. Have a nice life, Tracy Morgan!

It always saddens me how few people in this world there are that understand how comedy works. You can say Morgan isn't funny, you can say he's offensive, you can say just about anything you want about him, just as he can say anything he wants(especially when he's onstage doing a comedy routine). Welcome to America, it's how we've been doing things for awhile, so get over it. "Living where there's free speech means sometimes you get offended."

Sorry, I don't think the recent episode of South Park was 'swell' at all. It felt like the writers/animators were trying to hit the message home with a cinder block while pissing in the viewers' faces. The message was simple -- there was no need to hammer it home like they were talking to idiots. Of course, you criticize the episode and you fall into their 'critical as%&ole' trap. :) Looking forward to the next episode when they clear it all up.

Swell: More people joining me in my dislike of Tracy Morgan. This guy is not funny at all, and never was.// Gabriel in that Pepsi commercial with the pitchers...// Hell: Still those 5 hour energy commercials. Every one of them!

Thanks for including Tracy Morgan's kill-a-gay-kid routine on the Hell list. A really, really low point in supposed comedy.

If Matt and Trey want to end as complete badasses they'll bail on the second half of their contract for the year.

That cat commercial is hilariously disturbing.

Tyce doesn't bother me as much as Mary Murphy and her screaming, thank goodness I have plenty of ear plugs. I do lurve Cat Deeley!

Love Norm MacDonald. Other than that, the fall season can't come fast enough. And that picture of Ron Swanson is one of the most disturbing images I've seen in a long time.

Can't agree more about South Park. Relevant, well-done, and poignant.
