TV.com's Swell-o-vision vs. Hell-o-vision (June 11)

Here's what we thought was out of sight and just not right on TV this week.

Swell

... Work of Art: The Next Great Artist is drawing us in
The idea of judging art goes against the concept of art itself, but we're entranced by all the pretentious jerks telling us what they think.

... This trailer for the HBO's Boardwalk Empire
It was directed by Martin Scorsese. Perhaps you've heard of him.

... Lie To Me is back!
Tim Roth, we've missed you! And that's the truth.

... The Hard Times of RJ Berger
The premiere wasn't as bad as we thought it could be. Plus we have a lot in common with the kid.

... Walter White finally breaking bad and telling Jesse: "RUN."
We are SO into Breaking Bad.

Hell

... TLC's Extreme Poodles
It's like Ace of Cakes, but with dogs. PETA, are you seeing this?

... The Green Room with Paul Provenza
It could be so great, but isn't.

... 12-year-old girls with potty-mouths on The Today Show
It's slang for "country," right?

... MTV's cheap awards-show thrills
The Scarlett and Sandra situation was so dumb. We can smell the desperation from here.

... The Glee finale
We're sad the season is over, but a lot of what happened in the finale left us not too heartbroken to see it go: the cheesy rendition of "To Sir With Love," using up all the fantastic musical numbers halfway through the show, Sue suddenly having a heart...

What made your list of TV loves and hates this week?

Hey,who cares!!! My boyfriend thinks the same with me. He is eight years older than me, lol. We met online at** [Ageromance(C 0 /M)]** nice and free place for younger women and older men, or older women and younger men, to interact with each other. Maybe you wanna check out or tell your friends.

Who watches such drivel???

And the 13-year old cussing on tv? She shouldn't even KNOW such a word at her age. It is obvious she doesn't know its meaning, or she would never have uttered it. Concern should be placed back on the girl who was beaten and is brain damaged, not what the 13-year old calls her.

In all honesty, the only show I really care about right now is Lie to Me. Having it back feels like seeing my best friend again after he's been gone for over six months. I'm so happy it's back, and I really love it! I hope Fox see what an amazing show they have and give it a fourth season after season three begins this fall.

The Glee finale was a lot better than i was expecting, no way it should be on the hell list! But the MTV awards were crap, it was basically just how many awards can we give twilight this year..blah

Seriously... I don't get all the fuss in America with people taking swearing seriously.

This girl just answered the question. Obviously they knew what was written on those texts so if they didn't want her to say that they simply shouldnt have asked as to what was written there...

Oh well...

I read a review on tv.com last week about how great glee was...what happened since then? Sue having a heart was not sudden. tv.com changing its tune is sudden.

Bahahahahahaha! I love the little girl swearing video. I can't believe anyone would seriously care about her swearing when she is talking about her friend that got attacked. Oh and Glee is awesome and should never be on the Hell list... EVER!

The MTV movie awards was crap nothing but a popularity contest.

the glee finale made the three month wait ok, the finale didn't have the umph it needed to have a lasting impression. With other finale's i was already anticipating the next season (including Fringe and the Good Wife) but with glee, it like 'congrats, i saw the ending coming, got any more creative ideas up your sleeve?'

I completely disagree with your assessment of Glee. It looks like you were trying too hard to find something to hate.

MTV sucks, no matter how you draw it!

Glee on the hell list? WTH. I can see the bias through your computer screen already.

1. Never heard of the show about art... it sounds like a terrible idea, but it might be fun to watch.

2. Although I had my disappointments with the Glee finale, it definitely doesn't belong in "Hell"! I also disagree about the song..I think it was very fitting with what they were trying to express and they sang it beautifully. 3. I don't see the big deal about the girl ... she was asked a question and answered it...I'm pretty sure the FCC was the last thing on her mind...she obviously wasn't saying it for shock value.

Not surprised about the Glee finale at all.

Strange to see the Glee finale listed in the Hell section. I thought it was a logical culmination to the season's plots, stories, tone, character discoveries and themes. I'm not quite sure why the show is taken to task for a lack of musical numbers when "Bohemian Rhapsody" alone took up an entire act of the episode. I can certainly understand people disliking the show (I don't, but I know it's not to everybody's taste), but I can't understand why the creators are criticized for staying true to what they spent all season setting up.

Glee was given life by Lucifer himself so yes it does belong in Hell.

More people talking about Glee than Breaking Bad..... ordinary ****ing people.

I also don't think Glee should be in the Hell list...

The Glee finale was awesome. Your hearts must be made of stone to have not cried at the "To Sir, with Love" number.

I agree that Sue didn't "suddenly' get a heart. Yes, she's egocentric and wanted to destroy New Directions. But in the back nine, it became very clear that she takes her job as an educator surprisingly serious.
It was kind of cheesy to have her vote New Directions number one though; convincing Figgins that the club should get a new year, was enough.

I think the season finale of Justified needs to be added to the swell list. That show is fantastic!

I love the young girl breaking censorship clip! "Oh, sweetheart, your friend got beaten up by a madman who abused her and we want you to tell us every excruciating detail about it. But please, mind the language, we don't want any offensive content to be accidentally aired to the world". TV magic happening.

Extreme Poodles? Really? Reality TV has finally hit the absolute bottom.

Do not mock To Sir With Love. I shed tears during that scene. Also, it's called story structure. Rising action, climax, falling action. The big musical numbers were the climax. Seriously, quit finding reasons to complain and just enjoy what was there.

Sue didn't "suddenly" get a heart. Perhaps you missed the episodes featuring her sister with Down Syndrome?

And I don't find children obsessed with genitals amusing. I'm not talking about the characters in RJ Berger, I'm talking about the tv.com staff. ;)

I would have put th Glee finale on the Swell list.
