TV.com's Swell-o-vision vs. Hell-o-vision (October 22)

This week has so much Swell that we had a difficult time coming up with stuff for Hell. What made your list?

Swell

... This Luke Perry animated gif from Dragon Con.
Check out the dude in the Jareth from Labyrinth shirt. (Gif from Bestrooftalkever.com)

...Zach Galifianakis gets a taste of his own medicine.
No ferns, but the same uncomfortable weirdness.

...Ken Jeong's Adidas commercial
Senor Chang ballin with D-Rose? Siiiiiiiiiiick!

...South Park's perfectly rational Inception explanation
Actually it's really just the dude in the background going: "chick chick chick chick BAWWWWWWWWWWWW BAWWWWWWWWW" that kicks ass.

...30 Rock follows up their live show with one of the best episodes, ever.
Cookie Puss references and Reagan impersonations abound.

Hell

...The Parents Television Council getting their panties in a bunch.
Why must they try and stop hot young Glee actresses from taking pictures in their skimpies? Won't someone think of the young adult males!?

...No Ordinary Family's faulty logic.
J.J. becomes a football star because he's smart. The Raiders should sign Stephen Hawking to a 10-year deal.

...Bad shows getting full-season pickups.
Is the state of network television so bad that Chase is still on the air?

...The ladies of The Talk talk about Taylor Swift and John Mayer in great detail.
Remind us again, why we'd watch this rather than The View?

...The season finale of Mad Men.
We were all gloriously disappointed, frustrated and thrilled by Don's decisions. Quite frankly, we just don't want to wait another 9 months to see how the poop exactly hits the fan.

Now I can't remember if it was 30 Rock or Community that had me laughing out loud last week.

We gave up on Chase after the first episode. the lack of any attempt at reality in the action scenes was frightening. Heroine runs for two miles across town chasing criminal. Shot at end, she's not even breathing heavy as though she's had a half hour break before filming the next shot. (Reminiscent of Terminator 3 and Kristanna Loken but at least she was meant to be a cyborg!) She jumps into the river from the bridge, swims after the bad guy, struggles with him, ends up on bank a minute later, chatting as though she just came from her RV and was sprayed with water, even her hair wasn't that messed up... too distracting to even care about any quality under plot. I'd rather watch reruns of the Bionic Woman than that, at least they were tongue in cheek!!

I can't stand how morally upright and self-righteous No Ordinary Family's mother is. She uses her gifts when she wants (like this week, to try out a pair of shoes) yet she gets angry with the husband when he wants to help someone with his gift. And he is such a wimp, both with her and with the children. Spoiler alert ahead for those who didn't see this week's episode, when they find out about JJ's lying, he especially didn't even say or do a thing. That boy should have been grounded. The father's parenting skills are truly lacking.

Definitely annoyed about No Ordinary Family's constant lie regarding JJ's star football playing. How can they not realise he must have a gift? And his stupid concept that they wouldn't think he's special without the gift. What, they'd think you special when they find out you're a liar? What an idiot. He's freaking me out. He's a 4 feet pipsqueak who's playing among giants.

And a high-five YES! to Detroit 1-8-7.

You are so wrong about Don and MAD MEN that I now doubt your other judgments.

I hate to say it, but Supernatural's last episode should've been in Hell-o-vision. I love the show so much, but I SO wanted to b*tch-slap Sam when he was watching Dean get turned :(

The PTC is pathetic.

I agree 100% that the season finale of Mad Men was sucky as a season finale. It would have made an okay episode but as a finale it didn't do it for me.

30 Rock was good, and No Ordinary Family didn't make JJ a football star BECAUSE he was smart, his super brain just helped him calculate the projectory or whatever.. and the Ken Jeong commercial annoys me. not a big fan of him. and yes, bad shows like Chase and One Tree Hill getting picked up is very sad

The criminals are the star of Chase, not the detectives. Why change this original formula into something we already have. Watch Detroit 187 if you want a more traditional detective story. It's pretty good, too. In Chase, there is an intense character study of the criminal, but once he/she is caught, boom, it's over. The criminals aren't glorified in the end. It's fun. Leave it alone.

Please, Chase writers, ignore anyone who asks you to give us more stories about the personal lives of the detectives. Ugh! BUt if you do, make sure there is someone whose someone was killed by a serial killer or other criminal who decides to seek revenge on the very team that hunted him.....ahhhhh!

I like the talk.

Swell was that Chuck was back in form this week. Agree with your view of 30 Rock and bad shows getting full season pick ups--only because Community hasn't been picked up yet.

Chase really isn't that bad.. If they did a few more character centric episodes so we get to know and care about the people more, it'd be amazing. As of now, it has been quite formulaic and they need to start breaking it up.
