TV.com's Swell-o-vision vs. Hell-o-vision (September 3)

For the extended weekend, we thought we'd extend our weekly likes and dislikes. Here's what we thought was out of sight and just not right on TV this week.

Swell

...The hot and heavy episode of Mad Men
All the drunk people, the Joan and Don kiss, the flashbacks. Just everything.

...Aaron Paul's Emmy win
Our voodoo curse on his competition worked! And he rewarded us with this genuine speech. He's the real deal, yo.

...30 Rock's Emmy comedy reign is OVER!
We love Tina, but dang, it's about time another show won!

...This week's episode of Louie
Stephen Root as the dentist is nothing short of brilliant.

...Martin Scorcese-directed Chanel ads
We're all for Scorcese anything and it's totally getting us pumped for Boardwalk Empire

...Larry King sings Poker Face
First Christopher Walken does it. Now this?

...Happy 100 eps Futurama!
You don't look a day over 90 episodes!

Hell

...Julie Chen's dress on Big Brother.
Looks like she bought it at Bebe.

...Rolling Stone butchering the Mad Men cover.
What are they all doing squished in the back seat of some car together? And what happened to Peggy's leg?

...Lost wins nothing.
Maybe the votes for Terry O'Quinn got... lost. Zing!

...Friday Night Lights wins nothing.
Neither Kyle, nor Connie, nor script won a thing. We were a little crushed.

...Mad Men's Emmy drama reign continues.
For those who don't like the show, that could suck.

...Bristol Palin is set to appear on Dancing with the Stars
Really, is she really a star?

What made your list of loves and hates this week?

It was nice to see Kyra Sedgwick finally win for her work on The Closer. I was so sure it would be another Sally Field or Glenn Close love-fest.

So happy for Aaron Paul and Bryan Cranston, especially since neither of them will be eligible next year. Wish Breaking Bad had won Best Drama, but Mad Men is a fantastic show.

I'm thrilled that Bryan Cranston, Aaron Paul, Jane Lynch, Kyra Sedgwick and Jim Parsons won Emmy's this year!!!!!!!

I liked Lost, but I don't think it deserved to win in any of the major categories they were nominated for. For example, Aaron Paul had a better showcase than either Terry O'Quinn or Michael Emerson. It would have been nice for them to pick up an award, but the final season was a bit disappointing and wasn't as good as it was at its best.

Swell- Jim Parson's Emmy win

Hell- The Middle and all of its stars are unrightfully ignored in the entire process.

One step at a time people. 30 Rock's emmy reign has ended. Mad Men's reign will end next year. Personally, I'm glad lost got snubbed. It was alright in season 1 but, by season 3, it almost felt like the writers were sniffing coke before they came up with ideas. It was beyond ridiculous

Rolling Stone love car covers. They did the same thing when they did a cover of the friends cast like 15 years ago. They dressed them like they were from the 50s. Jennifer Aniston and Lisa Kudrow had an expression on their faces that looked like a perverse mix between orgasm and agony. Shudder

I thank god that, in the UK, big brother is on its final season and will never rear its ugly head on our tv screens again. I hate DWTS but I must admit I always find it funny to watch a Palin humiliate itself. You never know. She might be the brains in the family. One of them has got to have some.

"Out of sight and just not right." I like that! Great: Glee-esque opening and George Clooney on Modern Family. Not great: Jewel and Community's shut out.
