TV.com's Top 100 Everything of 2009: 50-41

  • 14comments

Here at TV.com, we take our year-end list-making very seriously. So as another year comes to a close, we present to you our second annual TV.com Top 100, the massive 10-part list of the year's most awesome TV happenings. As always, there were huge, mind-blowing events and tiny, heart-wrenching moments. Phenomenal send-offs and welcome hellos. Incredibly well-written plots and some really great, totally-not-annoying characters. After 365 days of watching TV, here's what we loved the most.

We're posting 10 items each weekday through January 1, so check back often to see what made the cut!

50. The "Earthling" episode of Fringe

"Earthling" was particularly interesting because we got to see more of Phillip Broyles' personality... he's more sensitive than he seems! The case in that episode was pretty sick, too (it was the one about people who turn to ash).

49. 30 Rock's Kathy Geiss as Susan Boyle

In "Audition Day," she dreamed a dream of TGS.

48. Jessalyn Gilsig's awfulness on Glee

If pretending that you're pregnant so your way-too-good-for-you husband won't leave you is wrong, then... okay, yeah, it's just wrong. So very wrong.

47. Fred Willard as Phil Dunphy's dad on Modern Family

Fred Willard has played so many TV dads, but he and Phil Dunphy could not look more alike. Plus they act vaguely the same. Well-cast!

46. Laura's Exit on Big Brother

Laura went off on Ronnie the day before she got evicted, and it was spectacular. She was the most prescient of the houseguests, but unfortunately something of a loudmouth. If she had kept her darn yap shut, she might have gotten further by hustling everyone into thinking she was a dumb bimbo.

45. Stephen Colbert's Baghdad crew cut

Colbert actually traveled to and broadcast from Iraq, a funny and genuine way to honor the troops. Getting the military head-shave was a standout moment.

44. The Mighty Boosh Special Edition DVD set

Tune in, drop out, and watch a man box a killer kangaroo.

43. Idris Elba on The Office

A great deadpan foil to Michael Scott's tomfoolery.

42. Ken Burns' The National Parks: America's Best Idea

Proof that we once cared about our land—and that documentaries still have the power to move us.

41. The euthanasia of Jon & Kate

The child-exploiting TV show was finally laid to rest as the family crumbled in real life. Way too late, if you ask us. But better late than never.
