Supermodel Tyra Banks, who returned to prime-time Wednesday night with her reality contest America's Next Top Model, cleared the air regarding the true nature of her breasts when she submitted to a televised breast exam from a plastic surgeon. Banks said she wanted to put an end to rumors that have dogged her for as long as she has been a model.
"I'm tired of this rumor. It's something that's followed me forever," the supermodel said Tuesday on her syndicated talk show, The Tyra Banks Show.
Banks' novel solution: a televised breast exam.
Wearing only a bathrobe, Banks requested that all of the men leave the studio. Dr. Garth Fischer from ABC's Extreme Makeover, conducted a touch test on Banks, followed by a sonogram. After several minutes, during which Banks' breasts were blacked out on TV, Dr. Fischer pronounced Tyra's breasts to be the real McCoys.
"Tyra Banks has natural breasts; there are no implants," Fischer said, smiling.
Banks went on to assure her viewers that she was not making a moral judgement about breast implants. "By no means am I saying a breast implant is a bad thing, but it's not a choice that I made," she said.
The rest of the show featured formerly zaftig Playboy Playmate Anna Nicole Smith, who also has had many questions leveled at her concerning her physique. Next, Desperate Housewives star Ricardo Chavira bounced up to the couch, professing his love for the topic of the day.
While her breasts were proven to be 100 percent natural, Banks did, however, concede to using some cosmetic fakery to assist in her beautification. In a daring disclosure, she told the viewers "I got fake hair, y'all. I got fake eyelashes."
