Ultimate Fighting fights way to syndication

Ultimate Fighting Championship, the martial-arts competition that draws good rating in the young male demographic for Spike TV, will create a new series for weekly syndication. Premiering in late 2007, UFC Wired will match up well-known UFC fighters in hour-long competitions.

Joe Rogan, the former comedian who hosted the reality show Fear Factor, will host the 22-episode series. Rogan has already done hosting duties on UFC's pay-per-view programs and on Inside the UFC on Spike.

UFC is teaming with syndicator Trifecta Entertainment for the deal.

"This is not a niche sport anymore; it's mainstream and very advertiser-friendly," Trifecta CEO Hank Cohen said in a statement. "It's certainly a unique alternative to most of the other hours coming out."
