Unit disbanded, Earl, Medium dead?

I didn't get into "The Unit" until after it had gone off the air but, thank goodness for DVRs, I'm catching up on the old shows one by one. This is SUCH a great show -- strong acting, great story lines, and good morals (something missing from most anything on TV anymore). I would love to know if any other network has decided to renew it besides as reruns. It was our replacement for "24" -- and having Haysbert on there was like coming home again!

Great post everyone and I agree it was bad business to discontinue the Unit. Our family watched religiously and I can’t believe another station did not pick them up. It is truly a dishonor to the cast and crew not to mention the audience. Here is the thing; it really doesn’t make much of a statement to not watch CBS anymore as the target has to be the sponsors who enable the station to operate. If everyone targets the sponsors then we have consumer power, hence the name consumerpwr. Don’t do business with CBS, their affiliates and sponsors. For example, I have a beef with UPS so when I order something I request they use another vendor such as USPS or FedEx. I tell everyone I know about UPS and what a bad company they are. I not only request my purchases be sent by another vendor I tell the companies who use UPS that I will not be doing business with them because of it. Eventually, they will get the message but it will take everyone doing the same thing. Good luck!moreless

I wish someone would buy out CBS and get rid of anyone responsible for causing The Unit to be canceled. I don't care if it was the CEO's mother, fire her.Putting a show on TV like The Unit and then cancel it after 4 years without any type of closure is like giving a kid a taste of ice cream and then tell them to go somewhere else.With that said, this kid is going somewhere else for his ice cream.The only positive side of this is that the money I spent buying each season on DVD can now go to buying Stargate Atlantis on DVD...uh no wait...that show was canceled too and replaced with a crappy new Stargate Universe. I will never watch CBS again. This you can count on. I only watch a few certain shows and now none of them are on CBS. To cancel The Unit and not sell the rights to another station at least is by far the dumbest things in the Executive world. Apparently you have alienated quite a few people.

As a fan of The Unit in the Atlanta area I found it hard to catch the show even with TIVO since the local affiliate routinely let some reality show run over 5 to 11 min. and then cut off the ending! I had to watch on line, but I made sure to catch every episode. I'll miss it. I still miss Firefox, Pushing Daisies, and Eli Stone. Eli Stone was one of the few TV shows that explored some interesting philosophical questions in a creative way. Get rid of the fake reality shows and bring back TV with plots that don't rely on bad language and worse behavior that only shows the worst of our culture.

OMG. Why cant they just leave my shows alone! I do think Medium and Ghost Whisperer would be great. I just can't make it to my tv at 8 pm on a Friday night! Start at 9 please!

Medium is one of the most creative and exciting shows I have watched in a long time.. it would be a shame to see it go off the air!!! Let leno retire already!!

I am sorry to hear that CBS has canceled The Unit. Looks like they'll be more weaksauce Sitcoms and Reality TV garbage to look forward to this Fall on CBS (emphasis on the BS)!

Very sorry to hear "Medium" might be off. It's a good show and I looked forward to it each Monday night. But I guess it's like all the good shows including my favorite "Law & Order Criminal Intent. But thankfully that one is on USA.

I suppose it will be replaced by another silly reality show.

reading the comments below i can only tell you one thing. networks make most of these shows for brainless idiots that live in california and new york. hate me if you want but its true. Most of your "cougars" or "cougar lovers" are in cali and NY. the "paris hilton" girls walking are cali and new york. haha, they already run america so why not run what we watch.

FOX cancels in the drop of a hat! Firefly, a show STILL with a million or more followers was dropped, and THEN they go to Joss Wheddon for another hit, and he just hands it over. Wheddon should have said, "hey, got this GREAT sci-fi show about a crew on a spaceship. It's like cowboys in space!" And he should do it every time FOX comes calling!

Why don't the execs take a cut in pay to save our shows?????? I will NOT be watching Jay Leno in primetime. Will NEVER happen.

Really, Really, I am seriously thinking of not watching any new shows. I do believe the powers that be, honestly think that the public is filled with vacuous brained entitities. Why else would hey cancel substance filled entertaining (The Unit, Life on Mars) and intelligent comedy (The Unusuals , Pushing Daisies)shows... I cringe when I see shows like "Cougar Town" and it's kind .I like to be ENTERTAINED when I sit down for an evening not bored to tears.

Well, once again CBS has shown that hey have absolutely no clue how to program for the viewing public. Every time I find s show I like they make it go away. First there was the debacle with Jericho; which, I might add, rather than admit their mistake they choose to sabotage the show by moving it's time-slot, cutting its budget and shrinking the number of episodes. Now they've canceled "The Unit". But then again, perhaps that's why I don't like watching CBS. I guess were all supposed to watch mindless reality shows and crime dramas huh?

What in the world is wrong with CBS. They must be out of their minds for canceling The Unit. Maybe they should take some of the reality shows off and put back some better shows. That way they will make money and after all that is the bottom line, isn't it!!!!!!!

Medium needs to stay! Fortunately we don't get Leno regularly in the UK, he's just another one of those vain, pretentious, conceited, egotistical talk show hosts that annoy me.

Earl was a good show, but medium after the first season was a flop and the unit was a good show and especially for sundays where there was nothing on at all but I'm sad to see them go......

Solid ratings and a top quality show that holds interest for both men and women - its obvious The Unit had to be cancelled. It was showing up the other rubbish being served up to the lowest common denominator. "Reality" shows are a joke - we need top shelf drama like The Unit. It also has a social conscience and relevance to our time but doesn't preach or shove it down your throat. Maybe there is a programming executive at another Network with an ounce of grey matter - but I'm not holding my breath.

The Unit cancelled? UNBELIEVABLE! There are really only 2 reasons for me to continue watching CBS - Cold Case and Criminal Minds. But you really need to go to the networks's website to voice your opinion. Do you really think they read these comments? Too many so called "reality shows". Nothing but "primetime Jerry Springer".

Oh my gosh!!! Have the t.v.networks gone nuts??? I can't believe they are taking off some of the funniest and the better shows!!! I was already angry when PUSHING DAISIES was taken off, now...MY NAME IS EARL is CANCELED...REAPER...ELI STONE...THE EX-LIST(didn't get a chance)HARPER'S ISLAND...AND...come on...LIFE??? Man...I don't understand how they can keep on some of the stupidest shows and get rid of these!! I'm glad and surprised Medium and The Mentalist are still on...and Ghost Whisperer...I can't believe they snuck thru.

How the hell can The Unit be canceled? That was one of my favorite shows on CBS. This is a bad year for television, first Terminator:TSCC, then Earl and now this.

How can you possibly cancel The Unit? It's one of the last great shows concerning our military that remains (or should I say WAS?). You folks at CBS really need to get with it. For me, The Unit was a great way to start my week, though I was upset when it moved to Sunday. I told my wife,"You watch; they're going to cancel this show." Sure enough! And it really bothers me that you CBS folks simply don't care about your viewers. There are endless stories captured from today's headlines that could have kept this show moving forward. Guess I should count my blessings that NCIS hasn't been canceled yet. As one of the approx. 9.6 million viewers that have been enjoying The Unit since it began, I am asking you to please bring it back. How do you (CBS) expect to have loyal viewers if you continue to cancel popular shows like The Unit?? As for all of the "reality shows", including yours, they bite!!!! I am very disappointed about the cancellation of the "Unit". The end of the show has left so many unanswered questions. Will Molly and Jonas reunite?,did Ryan lose the unit?, did Charles marry the right woman? I am blowing in the wind. It would have been nice if the show could have made 100 episodes. CBS, you really messed up because the sports kept going over time. Please try again, and put the show on a different day and a new time slot. The show after "NCIS on Tuesday nights, was good. I want and need my questions answered. I have purchased all 3 seasons on dvd, and can't wait to buy season 4. Thanks

I cannot believe that CBS has cancelled the Unit. we love that show. Whenever CBS puts a decent drama on Sunday Nights, it is a death sentence. During football...all the games run over and mess up the schedule. people can't watch when they want. It messes with the dvr etc.
Why don't they realize they have a good show here. such great talent and compelling storylines. there is ENOUGH reality tv. Maybe TNT will pick them up..they know drama!!!!

One thing is for certain. I will not be watching Leno one night a week, let alone 5!!! I like to be told a story. I'm tired of reality TV as well.
