Vanished into cyberspace

Fox ordered more Standoff and 'Til Death, but Vanished is not so lucky. The network has announced it will show the remaining episodes of the action drama online.

Beginning Friday, November 17, Vanished will appear on News Corp.-owned MySpace, as well as on Fox local station Web sites in 24 markets. A new episode will be posted every Friday at 12:01 a.m, and three episodes will remain on the sites at all times, with the series finale posted Friday, December 8.

Vanished is suffering the same fate as NBC's high-profile kidnapping drama Kidnapped. Both shows premiered to disappointing numbers and were shuffled around their respective network's schedules before being pulled and living out their days online.

I think this is such a cheap shot from a TV channel, I'm guessing they werent getting enough viewers to keep advertisers so they just cancelled the show.

tv networks overseas have been able to show the whole season though.

It would of been great to see the last few episodes like "Kidnapped". I couldn't watch the final episodes cuz I don't have a PC, I have a MAC. Wonder why they did that? NBC didn't do that for "kidnapped"

I'm watching the final three eps online today; I'm so glad I found link that informed me that they even exist! I don't care if it's shown online or on broadcast TV, as long as I get to see the show. Vanished was one of the bright stars for me this fall, and I was very disappointed when the signs of cancellation started to appear: erratic sheduling/changing nights, etc. I tried not to become too invested, but it was a good story with a good cast. But, whatever. And even if the show is not completely 'sewn up' after I view #13, I can then hope for more webisodes…

Turns out that there is an advantage to being somewhat behind in viewing my pre-recorded shows. Now I don't have to waste time investing in a show that would have brought only frustration in the end. Between this show and NBC's "Kidnapped", I can now skip a lot of tape and watch only what is worthwhile.

How would Nielsen treat this category -- "Taped and would have watched had it not been abandoned by the network"?

I just finished watching the finale of "Vanished" and boy am I angry. They didn't tie up any of the loose ends. What gives? Does anyone actually know what happened in the writing for the last three shows that were only online? Is this the way the show would've ended had it stayed on the air? Talk about a riducullous waste of time. Everyone in the show, with the exception of Sara Collins, was so stupid it was amazing. An extrmely unsatisfying end. I guess I'm glad it was cancelled!!!

Vanished was a great show! I'm so mad that they cancelled it! They could at least finish the season. I want to know how it ends! This sucks! First my favorite show Invasion got cancelled, now this? They could at least tell us how it ends.

What is up with myspace. No matter what time I try it the video and sound stops. Sometimes as many as 30 times in the first 10 minutes.

Fox has to fix there online viewing, it terrible. It stops and starts. This is not a good way to please their online audience.

Damn!!! They could have aired the last three freaking episodes! And the online streaming is only for US viewers? That's just great! Fox SUCKS!!!

Vanished was great!! It had action, drama, suspense and so much more. As they said when you turned one card over answering a question there was another question. I couldn't wait for the next show to come on. I can only assume that the people who didn't like just didn't see every episode. I never missed a minute, luckily. I will say it's the type of show that you don't want to miss because of the amount of info giving in each episode. I like standoff too, but nowhere near as much as Vanished.

It could be worse. Fox told the creators to wrap up the series at least partially by the 13th episode which was filmed and will be shown online. We learn who Rebecca is and where she is. The only thing is the situation may not be resolved. Two out of three are not bad, and the next three episodes will be it. Here is the quote from one of the creators:

Ausiello: Are you confident that one way or another, fans will see this story to its conclusion?

Berman: This isn't a show where one episode provides closure. We'll be providing closure in bits and pieces. As we turn over new cards, new questions will be asked. But we started this show with, "Who is Sara Collins? Where is Sara Collins?" And by the end of Episode 13, we answer both those questions. And then, of course, there are new mysteries to solve. As a viewer, I get frustrated when it takes forever to get to the answer, so that's not what Vanished is. The full interview is here, right before the show was canceled:

My husband and I have watched Vanished from the beginning. This makes you wonder about watching a series show again when the chance is there that you won't see how it ends.

Fox's special player kills Firefox and IE for me so I can't watch the remaining shows. THANKS FOX! You suck!

Whatever, I tired of FOX pulling out all the good shows, what's left to watch on FOX??? Idol???

I have HAD it with TV. The keep taking everything off and replacing it with stupid reality tv shows like "show me the money" And on top of that, Vanished is online but only viewable to those with Windows machines! WTF is up with THAT?! At least I can finish watching Kidnapped. Anything else going online soon? Don't mind tv shows going online, just let ALL of us be able to watch, stupid Fox!

What?!?!?! Vanished on the Internet. What a load of horse manure. It was a great show. Even after the main character was killed off. I am so disappointed. There are so many bad things on tv. (house of carters) reality shows suck.

Vanished was bad . . .hopefully Bones now has a chance of staying on Wednesdays when American Idol comes on.

Nice going Fox. It's streamed yeah, but ONLY for people in the US. I hope that some European channel buys this show.

I think this is a mistake. I think 'Vanished' would have appealed to viewers of '24', especially since '24' is not on right now. I think all it needed was a little more time, but we'll probably never know.

What a shame!!! I just don't get it? Why not give them some time to prove themself worthy? I really enjoyed this show very much and i just can't get it through my mind that i won't be able to see this show anymore. And then get this...FOX is favoring Standoff for some more ep's..COME ON GUYS!

So, I'll say it again it's a real SHAME!

The show "Vanished" was a perfect 10.

A show like Vanished needs to be watched in sequence over a short period of time. So by posting it on the web, it may be more coherent.

What is going on with tv? Give shows a chance, Runaway after 3 shows, Kidnapped, and now Vanished, come on, it was just starting to get interesting. Last season we lost Surface and Invasion, enough with the hospital dramas people! Does anyone know if Six Degrees is gone?

Disappointed, I went to turn on Vanished last night and poof! not there. I figured it was going to happen but they should have at least shown the last three episodes. I don't care for Standoff, I watched three episodes but I didn't like it.

What a shame... this show has probably the spunk and the vain of 24 and I am disapointed in the american viewer's general opinion.

Really sucks!

Glad FOX have faith in Standoff, and I totally agree on yanking Vanished, which in my opinion was one of the worst new shows this season.

Fox should had showed the last three episodes of Vanished. I do understand why the show was cancelled. It start out very good but it went downhill. I wish Fox could found a way to saved Justice. It is better than Stand-off.

You should be lucky this garbage is even making it to the online world. It is no Smith, I'll tell you what.

Fox should have pulled the plug on Vanished long ago. Though OJ doesn't really deserve his own special either. The only good thing coming from the OJ special is Jimmy Kimmel making fun of it.

The OJ If I deed It special shouldn't be aired at all. That OJ piece of trash documentary must be cancelled before it even airs. It's a complete waste of air time, unlike Vanished which is a good show and it deserves a full season on tv.
