In order to entice programming executives at the CW to renew his show Veronica Mars, series creator Rob Thomas pitched a brand-new direction for a fourth season. In a six-minute trailer shown to the company brass, the program warped a few years into the future and put the titular detective in the FBI academy.
Word on the street was the execs liked the idea and were on their way to renewing the cult favorite. However, just a few weeks later the show was left off the CW's fall programming schedule, crushing the spirits of those who loved watching events unfold in Neptune, California.
Though it looks like Veronica Mars fans will never see a new episode of the show on television, they may be able to at least get a taste of the vision Thomas had in mind for the fourth season.
TVGuide.com's Michael Ausiello is reporting that the trailer shown off to execs will be included as a bonus feature in the third season DVD set, which has not yet been officially announced by Warner Bros. Home Video.
But that's not all. Ausiello also says that Thomas may be going the route of Gilmore Girls creator Amy Sherman-Palladino. Thomas is reportedly mulling the idea of writing a script for a feature-length Veronica Mars movie in order to wrap things up for Kristen Bell and company.

I hope that if they do come out w/a fourth season on Veronica Mars it would be nice to know what happen w/her and Logan and all gang and if her dad got elected....I am such a huge fan and would love to see more episodes. This last one just kept me wondering Please more Veronica Mars!!!
I hope they make the movie to at least closeout (give me some closure) on Veronica Mars. I've been a fan of the show and purchased all 3 seasons to only have it end that way. To whoever outthere can make this happen...PLEASE, LOVE/LOVED THE SHOW!!!
I can't believe it! I just can't believe it! I feel so bad because I didn't watch the full 3rd season like I did the 1st and 2nd and so it's partially my fault that this happened. If I could turn back time I would!!! This was the best show since Buffy!!! AAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH!!!!

We so need a VM movie. The ending of season 3 was left too wide open and it is devastating that season 4 is not happening. CWTV execs are out of their minds to cancel such a great show. We need shows like VM on the air to combat the boredom of too much reality tv.
This is soooo sad! I loved this show! It was always the highlight of my week. Good writing and a great story. It never got old. Even story arcs that some people hated I really enjoyed. I won't be watching the CW ever again unless they do decided to bring VM back as a midseason replacement. It is so sad!!! Nooooo!!! I need closure! A movie...one more season...SOMETHING! If you cancel a cult favorite atleast end it so that the fans are not all pissed off at the lack of closure!!
Why do these people keep taking off these great shows and leaving us with crap reality TV, who needs to see the real world?? Hello, we live there!!! We need to escape to where life is anything but real. Bring back Veronica Mars and while you are at it bring back the Gilmore Girls, I want to snuggle down to some more time with Rory and super rich boyfriend - where life is good and you can forget the real world!

I really liked veronica mars, but lets be honest, the last season sucked in comparison to the other two. Too much teenage drama and too few mysteries and bad-ass veronica. They should have left it at two seasons.

i think the CW has ruined tv for the viewers. They have done some changes that didn't need to be changed, some did need it but VM was a huge blow to them. I think the CW will crumble by the end of the year, all the shows they have in the line up now are crap and i think it will show in the numbers when fall starts.
I'm very sad about the cancellation of VM. But I can't wait to see what could have been in the season 4 trailer on the DVD. I thought the ending to season 3 was perfect (as I'm not a fan of closed endings) but I would welcome a movie with open arms. Anything that lets me see more Veronica, Logan, Weevil, Mac, Keith, and Wallace would be appreciated.

I was pretty broken-up about the ending of VM. Maybe if the DVD sales are through the roof, we'll get a Family Guy-type situation? (Return of the show)

Just a shame that unless VM gets picked up soon it'll be finished. It's unfortunate because animated shows like Family Guy and Futurama can be off air for ages and still get recomissioned, where as if VM isn't picked up in the next month its all over. Bring back Veronica!!!
I have Directv and my area didn't get UPN so I didn't get to see V.Mars when it first started. When UPN & WB merged I was like cool now I can see what all the hype is about. I netflixed season 1 but liked it soo much I bought the dvd sets before netflix could send me the fourth disc. Then Directv went and decided they weren't going to carry the new CW. Being a total Gilmore Freak and a new V.Mars freak I subscribed to cable and directv. I paid $29 a month to watch 2 hours of TV a week and the CW goes and cancels both of my shows? BASTARDS! I hate the CW. When WB cancelled Buffy UPN picked it up... maybe someone smart in TV land can pick up V.Mars-moreless
I just got into the show recently and I went back to watch previous episodes. VM has now become one of my favorite shows on the CW, and it would be a mistake not to have it back on the air. I don't know what the execs were thinking not putting it on the program. Especially since we all would like to know what happens with everything. I think that the new way Rob Thomas wanted to go with the show would have been an interesting take on the lives of everyone on the show. But if they do happen to have a movie I hope most of our questions will be resolved in it. It would also be very exciting to see how it would go on the big screen.moreless
I'm curious to see what it is, but I have to admit that if Veronica had gotten her edge back before the last 2 episodes, it wouldn't have been cancelled. Veronica working with Mac, Wallace, & Logan was what made the show work, not her off like a lone wolf!

Well, I will defintely be getting the season 3 DVD as it is with the episodes but now with the pitch story, it will only be better and who knows they may bring it back if the DVD sales are strong...they brought back Family Guy.... One can only hope that happens for VM....Anyways can't wait for the DVD to come out and a VM movie wouldn't hurt either!!!

The first season has just started here in the netherlands, after 3 years they'll here from dutch fans as well, luckily we all have broadband.
Veronica Mars has to come back. What if they sell the show to another station. Well, if they can't I will see the movie. That would be really good.
I hope Dawn Ostroff gets fired. She's running the CW into the ground and I just don't see this network lasting with her in control. At it's current rate, the CW will probably be over in 3 years.

VM should have been on USA or FX with a reduced season of 13 episodes. That seems to have been a great formula for those networks... USA always has those Characters Wanted" commercials. VM had some great characters... I'll miss the show!
