Video Preview: ABC's New Shows

Here are more previews of the new shows coming out next season, this time from ABC. Unfortunately, all we have at the moment are clips instead of trailers, so you'll just have to make knee-jerk judgments based on these out-of-context scenes. Trust me, it's easy. One unfortunate missing piece: A clip for ABC's No Ordinary Family, the superhero show starring Michael Chiklis. We'll post that as soon as we get it. [UPDATE] It's at the bottom! [UPDATE on the UPDATE] Now with full trailers instead of rinky-dinky clips!

Mr. Sunshine

Genre: Midlife-Crisis Comedy
Notable Cast Members: Matthew Perry, Matthew Perry's forehead
It's Like... Chandler Bing, 15 years later.
Time: Midseason

Off the Map

Genre: Tropical Doctors-in-Love Drama
Notable Cast Members: Caroline Dhavernas (Wonderfalls, my dreams), created by Shonda Rhimes (Grey's Anatomy, Private Practice)
It's Like... a private Grey's Anatopractice on a tropical island.
Time: Midseason

Detroit 187

Genre: Fake Documentary Detective Drama
Notable Cast Members: Michael Imperioli
It's Like... a tourism video for Detroit.
Time: Tuesdays, 10pm

Body of Proof

Genre: Half-Medical, Half-Detective Drama
Notable Cast Members: Jeri Ryan, Dana Delaney, John Carroll Lynch
It's Like... some network exec decided, "You know what we need? A medical drama! No wait, a detective drama! NO WAIT! Both!"
Time: Fridays, 9pm

Better Together

Genre: Yet Another Relationship Comedy
Notable Cast Members: Joanna Garcia, Kurt Fuller
It's Like... do I really need to continue coming up with descriptions for relationship comedies? One couple is like totally married or something, and another couple is totally not, and they both talk about how their relationships are different. Just like the other ones.
Time: Wednesdays, 8:30pm

Happy Endings

Genre: Relationship-ish comedy
Notable Cast Members: Elisha Cuthbert
It's Like... actually, it's slightly different from the rest in that it starts with a couple breaking up. But a million bucks says it turns into the rest of them.
Time: Midseason

My Generation

Genre: Faux Documentary Dramedy About High-School Friends All Grown Yp
Notable Cast Members: Jamie King, Mehcad Brooks
It's Like... the Scandinavian series it's based on!

It's Like... Law & Order, all of them.

No Ordinary Family

Genre: Superpowered Family Drama
Notable Cast Members: Michael Chiklis, Julie Benz
It's Like... who cares what it's like? It has MICHAEL CHIKLIS as a superpowered dude!
Time: Tuesdays, 8pm

Anything here look good to you?

I'll probably end up watching them all since I'm a major tv addict. They should give therapy for this kind of stuff.

  • DanFixx

No ordinary family could be someting (a new Heroes?), but among all the other series, none can convince me to watch... It's kind of sad.

The only one that i find interesting is no ordinary family. maybe better together, mostly becouse im a fan of J.Finnigan. I cant understand why they cancel Flash forward.

What is happening with the un-named medical show starring Sissy Spacek & Skeet Ulrich. As a Skeet fan, we are dying to see him again in a series.

No ordinary family i think its very interested but all the others noway

Mr. Sunshine: If it's with Matthew Perry, I'll give it a go.No Ordinary Family seems ok as well.

  • MSNBCSUCKS

All of these shows look horrible and I would not watch one of them

    May 24, 2010
  • OrSoIThought

Haha. A lair. No Ordinary Family looks good.

    May 24, 2010
  • omaritoto

I agree, "No Ordinary Family" is nothing special. We don't need another "Heroes".

As much as I love Matthew Perry, c'mon I thought he'd give up after "Studio 60".

Shonda Rhymes is amazing, and she'll know what to do. Her show seems interesting, and so does Bill Laurence's.

    May 24, 2010
  • Celinasrensen

God No ordinary family looks bad, as in truly horrible!

    May 24, 2010
  • Senor51

At the risk of exposing my geekiness, No Ordinary Family basically ripped off the Fantastic Four. Not too original...

    May 23, 2010
  • alias571

I'll give Mr. Sunshine and No Ordinary Family a try and at least watch the pilots for Body of Proof, Off the Map and My Generation.

    May 22, 2010
  • Blue_Guardian

no ordinary family, body or proof [jeri ryan!!] and off the map [matthew perry and his forehead]

    May 22, 2010
  • sandbur

Oddly enough, I may give Off the Map a try...but no promises! It is a medical show after all, but they did a decent preview. Like the movies, it could be all the good stuff in the preview...Thats it though. I've even changed my mind about Mr. Sunshine despite Matthew Perry. Its been done to death, and it never was funny...

    May 22, 2010
  • famw

No Ordinary Family and maybe Body of Proof only because of Dana Delaney and Jeri Ryan (Yes I'm that old and a Trekker). :)

    May 21, 2010
  • hockey9927

No ordinary family looks interesting. I'll probably watch te whole trut just because i like Rob Morrow. It's impressive he got a new show so quick after numb3rs.

    May 21, 2010
  • Lyta_499

No Ordinary Family is definitely something I will be watching. I'm a Dexter fan and came to like Julie Benz very much from there, as for Michael Chiklis, he's kickass nomatter what he does! Definitely giving this show a chance

    May 21, 2010
  • Kurganxy

No Ordinary Family is really the only thing that looks interesting to me. MR Sun shine looks alright. I really liked that last show that Matthew Perry was in.

    May 21, 2010
  • talonz999

Mr Sunshine and Off the Map.

    May 21, 2010
  • Riosna

"No Ordinary Family" looks interesting. Other shows are... Well in "Off the Map" is Caroline Dhavernas, who was great in "Wonderfalls", but doctor show? Really, how many we need those hot-doctor-on-doctor shows.

    May 20, 2010
  • moonllight

No ordinary family looks good, I hope its a bit more dramatic instead of a comedy. The scene where Michael Chiklis jumps from the rooftop is obviously a parody of Heroes (Peter jumping in the pilot).I'm also looking forward to Detroit 187. I recently finished watching The Wire and I desperatly need a good realistic cop show, plus Michael Imperioli is awesome. I do hope they criminals get to swear, since its a "documentary" they could use the bleep sound.

No Ordinary Family!! The Incredibles come to life...Yay!!

    May 20, 2010
  • pamodoukah

hmm the American version of "Blomstertid" (My Generation) why not? but would have to do something special to outshine the original. Looks the same but more charachters in it and A LOT MORE expensive. Was a low-budget drama in Sweden. And in "Blomstertid" there were only one guy playing the 3 male roles.. and OMG he crushed them roles!...

    No Ordinary Family = Heroes?

"No Ordinary Family" and maybe "Mr. Sunshine" .. The rest looks the same..

    May 20, 2010
  • akesling

no ordinary family looks pretty decent. And I love anything 7 of 9, Jeri Ryan is in.

    May 19, 2010
  • Badfluffy

At least Allison Janney is going to be great in Matthew Perry's vehicle which is good for her, not so good for him and terrible for me because I'll have to endure his ridiculous acting and grimacing during their scenes together.Could Shonda Rhimes quit tv (or whatever she's doing because that barely qualifies as tv anymore)?A fake cop show documentary? Hard to believe this is the network that created Ugly Betty or Pushing Daisies... I guess conventional is back then.A super super (so super we had to be told twice in the trailer) doctor turned 'most unconventional medical examiner'? lmao! Seriously?A sitcom? Are we back in the 1980ies? Networks are still creating new sitcoms? Can we let that old one die a natural and permanent death?Oh look! The worst actor in Flashforward got his own tv show! Fantastic! One less thing to watch. My Generation could be interesting if they get over the gimmicky format and work on making their characters more than the failure of their highschool cliche. The Incredibles as a live action show with Michael Chiklis? Why do I want to break my tv, right now?moreless

I hope Ghost Whisperer ends up on ABC

    May 19, 2010
  • Writerpatrick

No Ordinary Family (aka The Incredibles as a live-action show) looks like it could be something provided it's more like Smallville and less like Heroes. Unfortunately, it's on against NCIS so I can't say I'll watch it.

    May 19, 2010
  • CareyArnott

im gonna check out..no ordinary family, my generation, happy endings, and mr sunshine!

    May 19, 2010
  • ColinMeeker

I saw all the trailers at abc.com which makes more of them interesting then the clips above.

    May 19, 2010
  • Miz_Tasha

The only one that looks decent is Mr. Sunshine. The rest looks terrible. I almost threw up on my keyboard after seeing the trailer for Off The Map. Please Shonda Rhimes...no...more...

  • brianinnh

I will give every new show a chance, but be warned, the channel changer is in my hand and ready to go off at a moment's notice, and I'm not afraid to use it!! And when I go, I don't come back!!

Seriously? For THIS they kill FlashForward? *boggles*

    May 19, 2010
  • Abernati

I'll check out Mr Sunshine for Matthew Perry, and Detroit 187 for Michael Imperioli. But that's IT. Fox's lineup is a lot better than that

    May 19, 2010
  • ShayneHanlon

wow more unimaginable dribble! They can afford to churn these crappy looking shows out, but they cant keep shows like LIFE, Flashforward etc on the air!Who runs these networks???? Monkeys behind a glass wall flinging poo at random choices!!! These idiots need to stop ruining TV!!!

    May 19, 2010
  • JoshuaSL

Matthew Perry and Allison Janney teaming up-this is like a dream come true for me. Throw in some bradley whitford and rob lowe cameos... You know Timothy Busfield is going to have a role... I've been waiting for Matthew Perry comedy since Studio 60 was canceled- worst decision ever- and I'm really excited for this series.

    May 19, 2010
  • VageSjaak

Wow, relationship-drama and crime stuff. Awesome.Really groundbreaking new shows.

    May 19, 2010
  • logossun

Mr. Sunshine, obviously, if written well. Ditto for My Generation. The rest have nothing new and no special chemistry we haven't seen before. I like Morrow so maybe Whole Truth.

    May 19, 2010
  • zwixxx

The Whole Truth - he has a beard and a ball => a wacky maverick who is just too dedicated to find time to shave - No thanQ very much. Girl from Privileged - NTQ either. But Mr Sunshine, Elisha and Jaime - on the to watch list.
