Voltron movie will make sweet music

One thing will be certain about the Voltron movie: It'll have a cool soundtrack. That's the hope of Pharrell Willams, leader of the Neptunes and executive producer of the movie Voltron: Defender of the Universe. In addition to producing the film and its soundtrack, Pharell will also write the score.

Voltron: Defender of the Universe, an animated show from the '80s, tells the story of five young space jockeys who travel into space to learn how to control one of five robot ships. Each episode, the five heroes combine their personal robots into one giant robot: Voltron. As Voltron, the five must work together to defeat the evil alien Drule Empire. So, not only was Voltron an exciting after-school event, but also it presented lessons on the importance of team building.

The Voltron movie is being produced by Mark Gordon, who produced the films The Day After Tomorrow and Saving Private Ryan. The Voltron film joins a growing roster of '80s cartoons that are making make their way to the silver screen, including John Woo's He-Man, Spielberg and Bay's Transformers, and The Smurfs.

Fairest GoBots, where art thou?

The Neptunes?!?! what Jabberjaw? the big space shark? only neptunes i know of....
too much to work into a movie, if you do the origen then you miss out on alot of charactors and if you skip it then most ppl not as old as i will miss out on whats happening. or they will skip out on alot.
it's sad when tho most origonal movie of the year is a sequal. and then we come to the other 2 voltron robots/shows there was one with just 3 robots and there was another made up of about 20 ships that merged to a big robot. all 3 called voltron.

I am a huge fan of 80s cartoons, they are so much better than many cartoons of today. Voltron is one of these cartoon series that I really love. I am really looking foward to this movie which I hope will be just as good as the series.

Thundercats Hell yeah. as for the John Woo's He-Man I searched and found nothing about it but come on what can take the place of Dolph in Masters of the Universe. Oh yeah and have been a big fan of Macross when I got older and found Anime.

For Itchybonjohnjon: If you liked Robotech, look up any Macross animes, which is what the first part of Robotech is based off of. I particularly recommend Macross Plus.

For jcurse369: Voltron was, as it says, an 80s cartoon. Like Robotech (and Power Rangers, for that matter), it was a Japanese show recut and dubbed for American audiences. It's a similar concept to Power Rangers, where five pilots have robotic lions they use for good, and the lions can combine together to form a powerful humanoid robot. With a big sword.

It's one of those shows that you have fond memories of from childhood and now you look back and realize how cheesy it was. Which is, well, like most of the 80's stuff, from Scooby Doo to He-Man to Transformers. And can I get a hell yeah for Thundercats?

Think Power Rangers with five guys and later four guys and a girl. The Zords are lions and you pretty much have Voltron. There was another version with cars, planes and boats. Think of that one as Power Rangers Lightspeed Rescue with 12 members.

80's cartoon were the best, if they can make Pokemon & Power Ranger movies Voltron deserves a shot. I can only hope someone makes Robotech.
