Okay, whatever, The Office. We’ve had enough of the paltry crumbs that comedy has been tossing us all summer. Parks and Recreation’s Season 4 sneak peek is out, and let’s just say that, while we wish The Office the best in getting its staffing needs met, this promo is actually doing its job and making us extremely excited for the show's September 22 premiere.
First off, we have a generous glimpse at the two other Tammys in Ron Swanson’s life: There’s Ron's frigid first ex—Tammy One, played by the always delightful Patricia Clarkson—and Tammy Zero, a.k.a. Ron’s moonshine-chugging mom. She’s played by Paula Pell, a former Saturday Night Live and 30 Rock writer and sometimes actress (she also played Pete’s wife on 30 Rock) who’s actually the same age as Nick Offerman.
Then we have interviews with all your returning favorites (except Rob Lowe, who was probably off channeling Drew Peterson for an upcoming Lifetime movie), all of whom seem to be genuinely buzzing about the quality of the scripts coming down the pipeline. It’s probably a good sign that they managed to coax two out-loud laughs from me in the space of a just a few seconds of preview footage (congrats, P&R; MVPs Amy Poehler and Aubrey Plaza).
What do you think? Are you pumped to “ascend the comedy mountain” with the folks of Pawnee? I sure as heck am!
Parks and Recreation returns for Season 4 on September 22.
