NBC announced on Tuesday that it will live-stream Super Bowl XLIX, which will pit the Seattle Seahawks against the New England Patriots, for free on Sunday, February 1.
The network will give consumers access to 11 continuous hours of streaming content without having to log in. Streaming access will begin at 12pm Eastern for pre-game coverage, continue throughout the game (kickoff is scheduled for 6:30pm Eastern, and Katy Perry and Lenny Kravitz are performing the halftime show), and conclude following the post-game episode of The Blacklist at approximately 10pm Eastern.
NBC's Super Bowl coverage will be available on desktops and tablets through NBC Sports Live Extra, NBC.com, and the NBC Sports Live Extra app. However, it will not be available on mobile devices.
So you need to weld your tablet to something?
Also, any idea when they're planning for some utterly horrendous, last-minute technical glitch to interfere with a key scoring moment? I'd like to plan my snack-prep around that.
Even if the servers don't crash they may be badly delayed. I wonder if they accounted for the non-US users who will be using US VPNs and proxies to try and access the site.
