Watch the First Episode of Spartacus: Vengeance (VIDEO)

You could wait until this Friday night to watch the first episode of Spartacus: Vengeance, "Fugitivus," but you know the idiom "patience is a virtue" is for old people without high-speed internet. Starz has released the first episode of the second season of its blood-and-boobs drama (third if you count the spin-off prequel Spartacus: Gods of the Arena), and it's currently available to watch online before its broadcast premiere this Friday.

This is your first look at Liam McIntyre as Spartacus. McIntyre is taking over for Andy Whitfield, who passed away after a battle with cancer last year at the age of 39. Vengeance sees Spartacus and his band of rebels fighting against the Romans.

And now you can watch the episode right here. Click play, pop that sucker into full-screen mode, enjoy the gore, and come back in an hour to let us know what you thought. (Warning: Video contains mature content that may not be suitable for all ages, which is another way of saying it's awesome.)

Pretty macho stuff, no? Spartacus: Vengeance premieres Friday, January 27 at 10pm on Starz.

I approached this episode with much apprehension as a huge Andy Whitfield and Spartacus fan. But it blew me away and I felt Liam McIntyre did a fantastic job. It must be difficult stepping into the shoes of a man who's much loved and missed by millions all around the world. His portrayal of Spartacus was very Andy-esque with perhaps a tad less humanity and melancholy, but still great nonetheless.

Andy would be proud I reckon that the show still goes on and continues to be adrenaline pumping awesomeness! Amazing start and a moving tribute to Andy Whitfield. RIP

It took a while to get over missing Andy, but I think a good job was done in casting Liam. It looks like this season will be good and of course I'll be watching. Liam gets a thumbs up from me. It was very heartwarming to see the dedication to Andy at the end of the first episode.

It's tough to replace Andy, he was so perfect for the role and it's such a tragedy. I need time to get used to Liam.

Watching this episode I found it quite fascinating how some scenes really are borderline porn. Of course, it's become quite clear during previous seasons already. And not that I mind, just saying. But it's still interesting that if the show went only one small step further by showing genitalia, Spartacus would turn into the most expensive and respectable porno ever made. A real plot, real actors and some serious CGI. For example, in the brothel scene the camera didn't just casually go past everything that went on in there. Instead it took time to film everything, often with close-ups and in slow-motion. Some of the stuff wasn't far from pornography at all. The crew must have a hell of a time filming those scenes.

I agree with you. I really would like to see that show with less borderline porn stuff.

They ARE showing genitalia - and still it's not even "borderline porn".

But it would be awesome("...real plot, real actors...), though.

Yeah, OK, you're right. When I said "showing genitalia", I meant it in a porn action kind of way, you know, penetration. But I guess one could question if even that made it (=some of the scenes) porn, since the production quality of Spartacus is otherwise so high. Some might say that the production quality of porn should by definition be low for it to be "real porn".

I liked it more than I thought I would. Will take a couple of eps before we can be fully comfortable with Liam McIntyre as Spartacus. From the very first scene he does a very good job. RIP Andy Whitfield.

awesome! I really liked it.

Except bringing back lucretia seemed a bit absurd.

Pretty good, but doesn't quite have the same feel as the first season or prequel, at this point. I'll allow some transition time to account before making a final decision. Over all it was great and entertaining!
