Watch the First Tease for Starz's Ash vs. Evil Dead (VIDEO)

Starz is quickly becoming a network to contend with. Between OutlanderThe Missing, and the upcoming Blunt Talk, we almost forgot Torchwood: Miracle Day and Camelot ever existed. But the Starz show we're most excited about? That would be Ash vs. Evil Dead, a continuation of one of horror's greatest franchisesThe Evil Dead series. And finally, Starz has released the first teaser for the blood-spattering show.

Our first look at Starz's Ash vs. Evil Dead teases a familiar looking appendage: Ash's modified chainsaw arm. It's no Boomstick, but it's the next best thing. Yes, more of this now!

Ash vs. Evil Dead stars Bruce Campbell (it couldn't exist without him) and Lucy Lawless, and wouldn't you know it? Ash will be slaughtering hellish demons again. Look for Ash vs. Evil Dead sometime this fall.

I have 2 main hopes for this series. 1.) is somehow links Ash's story with Mia's from the 2013 filme, and 2.) they use some cut of A7X's Hail to the King as the opening theme to the show.

I don't think there's been a show that's had me more conflicted. Half of me is SUPER excited, the other half WILDLY disappointed.

Let's face it, Evil Dead isn't hugely popular because it's a cinematic masterpiece. It's campy and cheesy and generally pretty bad, but entertaining. That combination isn't something that's easy to replicate...they just sort of happen completely by accident on their own.

I like what Starz has been doing for the past number of years, but I'm hugely worried that capturing this lighting in a bottle, again, is just too big of an ask.

I couldn't disagree more. Evil Dead oozes style and cinematic flair. I would consider it a cinematic masterpiece, without doubt. Along with The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, I think Evil Dead has enough stylistic originality (particularly in terms of it's cinematography and editing) to hold its own against the more formulaic films that often pass for masterpieces.
I have no problem mentioning Evil Dead alongside The Third Man or Rebecca. None whatsoever.

the 2013 film paid homage to the originals and remain a fresh version, the good about the 2013 like the originals most if not all was shot in camera also the 2013 had no ashe which makes it better than a remake.

Who wants to forget Camelot. Game and Thrones' and Camelot's first season ran at the same time and when Game of Thrones was renewed and Camelot wasn't i wished it was the other way around. But i am looking forward to Ash VS. Evil Dead, if it holds up to the movies it will be fun and spooky, and there will be skeletons, yeah.

The guy that played Arthur had the personality of a wet 2x4. You might as well have cast Hayden Christensen.

What? Camelot was terrible and Jamie Campbell Bower must be one of the most tannoying actors ever...

I am not saying it was a great series, just that it was better than Game of Thrones, and that has something to do with my expectations. If you want fantasy in the same fashion as in LOTR, Game of Thrones is not that great. There were more elements of fantasy in Camelot. After five seasons of Game of Thrones, it is still more like a political series with fantasy-elements, than a fantasy-series.

So you rather have a show with bad acting and storytelling, than a show with good acting and storytelling if it has more fantasy to it?

No, i just want what i fell was being promised. And Game of Thrones still have to deliver. And at least Camelot didn't try to make itself more than what it was,, like Game of Thrones does. Everybody talking about how great a show Game of Thrones is, but if you really look at the story, it is more like a constant cry for help on how to get on with the story, so you drag things out beyond there expantion point.

Sadly, as amazing as it is, you can't build an entire series around Eva Green getting naked. You can have 40 acres of luscious farmland, but it's useless in the hands of a blind paraplegic, or generally anyone who thought casting Jamie Campbell Bower was a good idea....

That trailer was shit in all fairness, we didn't even get to see Bruce's face, that could have been anyone with a chainsaw. I am looking forward to the series, but just hate teaser trailers that are too short and don't give anything away. Making you think 'Oh was that it' rather than I need a bigger fix.

that's cause that was not Bruce w/the chainsaw duh. this is a "teaser trailer" - not a real trailer.

Do you really believe that teaser trailers aren't real trailers? I'm just saying usual teaser trailers last upwards of 2 minutes and give away some kind of short snippets of the show, This one didn't.

Yep, I thought it was pretty obvious it wasn't Bruce. If it were, obviously they would have showed his face :-) Just hearing his voice was enough for me!!! Awesomeness personified!

Most shows from movies or books I am hesitant about. But I can't help but think that this is going to be a level of fantastic that everyone will be able to appreciate. Still, to this day one of my favorite series of movies.

I just hope it captures the same feel as the movies. Something that the remake didn't.

Nope I haven't seen Fury Road yet. I was thinking about it this weekend, either that or San Andreas.

SEE FURY ROAD! FORGET ABOUT SAN ANDREAS!

I got back from seeing it an hour ago, you should definitely watch it. One of the most insane action movies I've ever seen. Makes the recent Avengers movie look like Sesame Street.

I have not heard too many things about San Andreas. I like The Rock and it even features a Kylie Minogue cameo, someone I'm sure you are very fond of (actually I have no idea if you are) , but there is nothing to that movie. Catch it on Blu-Ray or something.

I will say the downside to seeing Fury Road is that all other action movies or even movies you see this year are going to pale.

@Mate

So San Andreas has Kylie Minogue, Alexandria Daddario, and Carla Gugino.

Well Mad Max: Fury Road has Charlize Theron, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Riley Keough, Zoe Kravitz, Abbey Lee, Courtney Eaton, and Megan Gale. More than twice the yums.

That is a good recommendation. I do know who Kylie Minogue is, she is attractive for someone in her late 40's. But it also has Alexandra Daddario whom you should know from her great scenes from True Detective as well as Carla Gugino one of my all time favorites.

But I think I will check out Fury Road based on your rec. Or I will bag both of them and see Aloha.

Fascinating. Consecutive articles on tv.com: the "unnecessary/do you care" continuation of Full House and the "been waiting 23 years/OMG 1000 yes's" continuation of Evil Dead. So are we sick of non original programming/remakes/reboots or not? Of course, this coming from a guy who didn't care for Lethal Weapon 4 or Live Free or Die Hard but loves Girl Meets World, so what do I know? Lol

"So are we sick of non original programming/remakes/reboots or not?"

I guess it depends on the quality of the source material. I for one will watch Evil dead the show as long as they'll make it, but I will not watch one episode of Fuller house.

"Of course, this coming from a guy who didn't care for Lethal Weapon 4 or Live Free or Die Hard but loves Girl Meets World, so what do I know? Lol"

Well, you are very right not to care for Live free or die hard.

One of those things was open-ended storytelling that had an extremely limited range of content in its franchise, the other was a family sitcom that nobody was pining for and had nowhere particularly compelling to go. Live Free or Die Hard was junk and terrible, but Mad Max Fury Road is being hailed as genius - it's all about the visions and motivations behind the production.

I see a few people commenting on Live Free or Die Hard. I won't say it was the best but it was far from bad. I liked it quite a lot myself. However A Good Day to Die Hard ... NOW THAT WAS GARBAGE!!!

Live Free or Die Hard is not as terrible as A Good Day to Die Hard. I like Live Free or Die Hard. Its more of a superhuman movie and i don't think its quite as good as Die Hard 3 or even 2 but its fun. Bruce Willis looks like he is actually acting instead of looking bored as shit throughout the movie like he was in A Good Day To Die Hard.

You can sub in any number of crappy modern sequels or remakes then. But I will say I found live free or die hard utterly forgettable and brainless pap, so if the Russia sequel is worse, holy shit. Live free is like a textbook on how Hollywood ruins what it creates. I used to love going to all sorts of movies, even kinda bad ones, but now you have movies like that which aren't even fun bad, they're just expensive cash-ins that have mastered the art of turning audiences into suckers as efficiently as possible. Someone I know described dumb and dumber too as a full theater silent for 2 hours, no laughing, then they came out saying "that was a good movie" even though it wasn't to them as they did not laugh once.
