Watch the First Trailer for AMC's Latest Fancypants Drama, Low Winter Sun (VIDEO)

AMC's upcoming cop drama Low Winter Sun is sure to draw all sorts of buzz when it premieres this summer, but the network would like you to start anticipating the show now. Which should be relatively easy because they've just released the first trailer, and it looks good! Behold:

Low Winter Sun is an adaptation of the 2006 British miniseries of the same name, about a detective who murders a fellow officer and believes he's committed the perfect crime... but really his little "transgression" gets him involved with all sorts of nasty stuff having to do with the underworld of Detroit, where the series set. The show's official logline promises "a contemporary story of murder, deception, revenge, and corruption in a world where the line between cops and criminals is blurred," and Mark Strong, who starred in the original U.K. version, reprises his role as the cop-killing cop. Lennie James (The Walking DeadJerichoSnatch) co-stars, and David Costabile (Breaking Bad's Gale) is also part of the cast. No premiere date has been set, but Season 1 will consist of ten one-hour episodes.

While I question AMC's decision to tout The Killing in the "From the network that brings you..." title card, I loved The Shield on FX and this sounds kind of similar and also it has Lennie James (<3 u, Lennie James!) and I will give it a shot. How 'bout you?

I watched without reading the description and then just about jumped out of my chair when I saw the GM building - can't wait to see some of the downtown Detroit area on this thing.

I'm basically a whore for Mark Strong, so I'll not only watch this but I'll download the brit one as i type. Tv is getting good this year, Sherlock coming back, Mads on Hannibal, a vague person named silas on tvd yet to be casted, some more blood and chrome? Borgias coming up with my fav, cutest incestuous duo, hell even GoT, dwarves riding pigs and shit, Viper and the sand snakes!! Cumberbatch in hobbit and Trek. 2013 will be epic. Fuck, I might even graduate this year.
Mark Strong!!!!!!! Love him!!!!!!!!

First impression? Geolocation blocking is the new fascism.

First impression? Almost everyone in the trailer sounds like Christian Bale's Batman voice.

Yeah, I'll definitely give this a try since it looks better than your typical summer series. I have tons of faith in AMC now since it brought us Breaking Bad (6 episodes in so far; awesome show).

It's definitely in 'must try out' territory but it's hard to have high expectations of another remake of a European crime show.

Looks good. Amusingly, half the cast is British.

Mark Strong, Lennie James, and David Costabile?

I don't have to read or watch anything else, that actors' trio is more than enough for me.

That Gale's a real journeyman. Married to Kristen Schaal, then makes meth, then becomes a partner at a law firm, now this.

Plus he had an excellent, dark turn on Damages.

this may be their best bet; with BBad ending and Hell on Wheels not doing so well, this might be the replacement they need.

Lennie James was awesome in last years "line of duty" on the BBC. Looking forward to this show. It actually looks a bit like an extreme version of "Line of duty"

I never really liked him for some reason. Maybe it's because I hated The prisoner so much. That's the first time I remember seeing him.

He was also superb in Jericho, stole pretty much every scene he was in, shame that show never got a third season.

James appearing here means no upcoming TWD appearances, I would think. Looks good though if the writing is solid and the AMC suits don't muck with it....

This is making me miss "The Shield". That said, it's got some good people in it, so there's a very real chance that I'll be giving this a shot. Maybe I'll go rewatch some "The Shield" in the meantime...

I still think The Shield had the best ending ever - of all TV-shows.

Always nice to see you guys include trailers that don't work for most of the planet. Here's one that does: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oTFKglwGwcY

Hmm...maybe. I am cautious of AMC shows (I blame The Killing for this and, well, technically Rubicon, what was going on there?) because I love Breaking Bad and the Walking Dead and my schedule is a little erratic with tv watching in the summer.

Really? I didn't hate the Killing (annoyed at it, yes) but Rubicon could not hold my attention which means I tuned out in portions.

Well the world would be dull if we all loved the same shows, my wife liked it as well, guess we just like TV shows that kind of meander at times! :)
