Watch the New Homeland Trailer Because It's Awesome (VIDEO)

One of the knocks against Showtime's Homeland, the best new show of last year, has been the question of sustainability. The series' premise—a decorated POW may or may not have been turned into a terrorist against his country—sounds like a fantastic logline for a miniseries, but for multiple seasons? How is that going to work?

Well the trailer below has shut this critic up with a moody minute-and-a-half of snippets from Season 2, all to the sounds of kids chanting The Police's "Every Breath You Take," which has no business working in this context except that it does! The dialogue-free trailer starts off slow, but by the end it's an accurate reminder of the paranoia, desperation, and tension that made Season 1 such a triumph.

Wow, could that have been pieced together any better? Things climb slowly with intrigue (why is Carrie going brunette? Why is Brody in the CIA's headquarters?), then get intense (why is Carrie in the Middle East? Who hasn't washed blood off of themselves at a gas station? Pill chugging!), then go full-blown insane (the Carrie cry-face! Brody flashbacks! More crying from EVERYONE!), all intercut with shots of surveillance before kicking us off the cliff with what the show is really about when Carrie *gulp* shows up at Brody's hotel room donning that remember-me-I'm-the-crazy-chick smile. Excuse me, I have to set my time machine dial for September 30. So, so good.

Homeland Season 2 premieres Sunday, September 30 at 10pm on Showtime.

Let's hope Homeland kicks Mad Men asses at Emmys!

I enjoy this show. Always thought those who portary Carrie and Brody were excellent actors. Finally, a role for the very Jewish (Woody Allen-like) kvetching, guilty, self-indulging Mandy Patinkin. Is he ever any different. I don't think he acts, he just takes up space and utters a few words producers treat like gold. (I have no idea who he is supposed to be in theis otherwise excellent show). I imagine he recruited our heroine a few years back and now feels responsible for her. Yes, and so he should.

Awesome trailer. I'll have to rewatch S1 before the premiere.

I'm still watching season 1 and it's pretty good. The best new show of last year is a stretch but I can see why some people might think that.

Isn't Danes pregnant at the moment? Wonder if that will play into the show. Brody's baby would create some good drama

I will be Watching you ....HomeLand ;)

Looks like Season two will be better than season one, if the trailer is anything to go by. Hopefully Dane's acting has improved and is more believable.

Seriously? I'm not a fan of Claire Danes and even I must admit, her acting is nothing short of award worthy in this series. You sure you're watching the same show? Homeland... on Showtime.. ?

Yeah, that's pretty funny. She's been nominated for just about every award possible for her acting in this show and has been nothing short of amazing. But to each their own, I guess.

Breaking Bad..... come on!

In other matters, Homeland was the 2nd best show last year, according to critics, and I personally love it.

BB aside, there's really not a lot good stuff in the summer months. Can't wait for October to begin and all the good shows to come back.

OMG!!!! I love it!!! It was so perfectly arranged and the soundtrack.... "I'll be watching you!!!!"

Could not have been better.

A touch of ''Hitman'' maybe (the game, not the crappy movie) ? Anyways, Homeland is excellent in every aspect.

I know I'm in a minority over this, but to me the season was blown exactly by what was so exciting for so many people: it was a beautifully paced burn until the last episode, when we had to have that massacred by the good old Hollywood trick of timing something JUST right for dramatic effect and nothing else. Twice. So I'm actually waiting for redemption and the slow burn again and no more Hollywood-like crap.

Just nitpicking here, but those are not kids chanting, but a choir of full grown women... just sayin'

But great promo, I'm excited for the new season!

Damn, that was awesome!

This show is too good to be stuck on an obscure expensive specialty channel like Superchannel (for us Canadians). It should have been placed on The Movie Network which airs great shows like Dexter and Game of Thrones. Very few people will shell out $17 extra a month to watch basically one show. Guess I'll have to wait until Season 2 is released on DVD, in about a year and a half.

Are we allowed to breathe after watching this? Seriously though, a trailer this amazing sets up some pretty high expectations and normally I'd be prepared for some disappointment. But this show has proven to me time and time again, that it delivers. Can't wait!

One of the best trailers for an upcoming TV season I've ever seen. It reminded me of a trailer for the "Social Network" with the Radiohead song "Creep".

Here's a link if you haven't seen it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lB95KLmpLR4&feature=youtu.be

There's just something about a children's choir that is ethereally creepy.

YAY!! can't wait!

Personal note, "every breath you take" has always creeped me out; in high school there was a guy that asked me out about 100 times and used to send me "secret admirer" gifts all the time, one of those was a CD with this song repeated over and over. Scared the s#&t out of me, still does :/

This and "Dexter" season 7 with Deb knowing promises to provide for excellent viewing on my part. I approve, Showtime.

I'm looking forwards to it. But I still wish the explosion happened at the end of season one. It felt like a bit of an anti-climax.

I figured they wouldn't do it since Showtime wanted the show to stay.. If it was a mini-series, it more than likely would have went off.

Can I come with you in the time machine please?
