Watch the Pilot for Awake Now (VIDEO)

We've been talking for nearly nine months about NBC's Awake, one of the strongest new network offerings for the 2011-2012 TV season. Now we can finally stop talking and start watching. NBC has followed the recent trend of generating buzz for new shows by posting pilots online before they premiere on TV, and we have the first episode of Awake for you right here.

The series, created by Kyle Killen (the man behind the too-good-for-network-television Lone Star) and executive producer/showrunner Howard Gordon (executive producer of Homeland), follows a cop (Jason Isaacs) who copes with the untimely death of loved ones in a unique fashion. After a fatal car crash, his mind creates two realities—one where his wife survived, and one where his son survived. He bounces back and forth between the two existences, solving cases as clues bleed between the two realities and he hangs on to the memory of his family.

I'm not going to lie. It's a tearjerker, but it's also a thought-provoking mind-bender. Watch it, tell your friends about it, tell your friends to tell their friends about it, and let's do our best to get this solid show off to a good start so it isn't replaced by another singing competition show.

Jason like others is excellent in many series plus movies and actually can save a show. Totally agree with you KathieHart. ABC and SYFY do same thing. Hope wrong time slot won't kill this new one too.

'LONESTAR' got no backing or respect from FOX.

Maybe because this is NBC 'AWAKE' will have a chance.

I really liked it.But, boy, you have to pay attention to keep those realities straight.

Hope it does well.

I've had this available On Demand for a week or so now. I anticpate watching the show regularly. I like the premise and Jason Isaacs is one of my favorite actors although I do miss the white blond hair of Lucius Malfoy. He looked wonderful with light hair. I do not care to have explanations forthcoming right away. As I reader of books, I enjoy tv that allows me to wonder and wave my own possible outcomes.

Finally got to this and overall I enjoyed it and it feels like it can be a good show...

At least it is intriguing and the writing, look and acting make it interesting beyond the big mystery - I like the dark edge (in looks and tone) that reminds me a bit of person of interest

Unlike Touch - no intrigue there, just Heroes-like global jetsetting full of cliches and stereotypes so embarrassing I blushed - and Sutherland's overacting... tone it down man... you are unbelievable (and not in a good way)

I watched the pilot and just loved it!

I think people are concerned that it's going to be just another crime show with a twist, but some of the most successful shows are just that. NCIS's, CSI's, The Mentalist, Criminal Minds, Bones etc.

I enjoyed the subtle yellows and blues that they used for the different realities, I liked that the realities have different casts and homicide cases (which you would think would be confusing, but wasn't at all). Jason Isaacs is amazing in this role and the back up cast does a great job as well. The dueling psychiatrists were 'hypnotizing'. All in all, a fantastic hour of TV.

The mystery will unfold eventually, be it cheesy or not. Until then, I think the ride will be one worth taking. Count me in!

I too am concerned how they are going to keep this series going without it becoming boring and predictable. It's a nice pilot but they better start giving us clues as to what's going on, hopefully a sci-fi element, although I think the writers will use the he's dead and in purgatory exclamation.

omg... read the interviews or some news. Director already said like five times, that he's dead or he's in a coma explanations are bullshit and will never be used in show. (maybe he will think that he's dead, but he's not)

watching the shrinks I was reminded of a short story (SF) I've read years ago. I can't remember the title or the writer, but the situation was similar. In this story the shrinks went head to head through the patient, each trying to convince the patient they were real and the other shrink was a delusion. I can see this series go that way, the two shrinks battling each other for the patient.

I'm currently watching and all I can say is that it reminds me of UK's Life on Mars which IMO is a huge deal cuz I LOVED that show so much!!!

Until a spin-off called Sleep to Sleep appears, I'll stick to it cuz it loooks pretty damn promising, WATCH IT ppl!!!!

wow! I already love this show! However, I am a bit concerned about how they're going to keep this up for a whole season. This concepts seems like it would fit better as a movie. ]

also, I totally know how this is going to end. Spoiler alert: it turns out the jason isaacs is the one who died/is in a coma or something.

Really, Really Good.

I am interested to see how further episodes are written. It looks like a case-of-the-week deal, with a crime in each reality, and I hope that aspect doesn't get tiresome. It's also, of course, a fine line to walk to not give away which (if either!) reality is, well, real. I can't wait for the premiere and I pray it gets a good audience.

If you can't watch this because you're not from the US download the Firefox Add-On called Modify Headers. Then follow these instructions on youtube: /watch?v=bV8rdpF1qZs

I hope they don't bring the alternate timeline/reality crap!

I love it in Fringe, but one show with it, is enough!

It is an interesting show. I will give it that. I will reluctantly watch it despite my sever dislike of any show that allows Wilmer Valderama to "act". However the continuation of the show is going to depend entirely on the horrible psychologists or psychiatrists I am not sure they specify their level of education. At some point if he is doing what he is already doing in the first episode. They are going to have to have him committed or at the very least recommend the police department to fire him for being mentally unfit for duty. If he can't as they perceive differentiate between dreams and reality, there is no way in hell he should be continuing his job and carrying a firearm. There are literally a myriad of psychological diagnoses that he could fall under, particularly schizophrenia. If this is an ongoing thing at some point they are mandated to pull him from duty and in this severe of a case would have him involuntary remanded to a facility to monitor him. and probably pump him full of antipsychotic medications. If this doesn't occur then I am going to have some serious issues with the show and it is going to become for me unwatchable.

I really want to like this... After Touch was such a disappointment... At least one good mid-season show.... Smash is not bad but you do have to like musicals and endure a lot of bitchiness....

I'm a traditionalist and still like to watch it actually on my TV, so I'll wait for then to watch it, but I have absolutely NO qualms about already saying that this show is going to be great and let's get people to watch it!! (This is one of a couple of good new NBC shows this year. "Smash" seems to be doing fine enough, and "Grimm" opened up pretty well, also. Let's hope they continue the trend. Also, for those who will find that they love this show, check out "Parenthood", an underrated network show if there ever was one.)

I have to say, NBC is making quite the comeback this year. Who knew they had the brains for 1 show of quality TV, never mind 5 or 6?
