Watch the Trailer for NBC's Siberia, the Lovechild of Lost and Survivor (VIDEO)

Summer's almost here, which means it's time for another round of, "When did this show get announced?" First up is NBC's Siberia, which was quietly added to the network's schedule late last month. Siberia is a reality show, but it's a drama! Okay, what I mean is, Siberia a scripted drama about a reality show where things go horribly wrong. Like, death and monsters wrong!

Clearly Siberia is result of some drunken sex between Lost and Survivor, but honestly this looks better than I thought I would. Of course, I thought it would look extremely unwatchable, so that's not saying a whole lot. As you can see from the video, 16 cast members get shipped off to a mysterious site for some unscripted fun, but then people start dying, weird things start happening, and mystery monsters start monsterin'. Is it part of the show? Is it real? Is it worth watching to find out?

One big hurdle Siberia will have to overcome is its scheduling. For reasons unknown to me or anyone with common sense, NBC has placed Siberia on Mondays at 10pm... directly opposite CBS's upcoming Under the Dome, another mystery-laden genre series (and one that had a huge head start on promotion and marketing). Does the trailer for Siberia make you want to check it out?

It's a shame that NBC didn't promote this b/c it actually looks pretty interesting. I don't understand why NBC doesn't back their own TV shows. They do this all the time, premiere a new show when they've done nothing to promote or even advertise it and then they wonder why NO ONE is watching it. COME ON NBC it is simple logic, if we don't know about it how can we watch it. I watched the first episode of Under the Dome b/c since what late winter/early spring CBS has advertised and promoted the HELL out of it. So of course I was going to check out the pilot. DUH whoever is running NBC so needs to be fired this idiot has no clue how to run a network. I mean I could do a better job and I know nothing about how a network runs. DUMB b/c now I won't be watching this as I do not have a spot for it. Under the Dome and Mistresses will be Tivo'd

Hey they forgot the awesome but short lived The River, which makes this a threesome! lol. But I didn't know about Under The Dome being on same day and time. That is both a good and bad thing cuz the good that is what DVR is for, bad for the people who do have those rating boxes and which provide probably the ratings and renewal or cancellation of a show, which i still think is really unfair. Now I never watch anything live on tv when its on, But If I had to choose to watch one live it would be UTD, sorry Siberia but Stephen King wins every timee. As a reader of the book I just hope the show justice

The plot sounds very interesting, and the trailer isn't that bad actually. Well, for NBC anyway. Perhaps I will watch. I want to know what's up with that whole "green sky" thing at the end.

And NBC return with another bad scheduling..

what NBC can do?
I know! they should produce another season of "The Voice -Summer Edition"
and put Siberia after that on 10:00 PM timeslot.
it's seems work fine..

Before pressing play (on youtube, obviously) I had a bet against myself that someone would say "I didn't sign on for this".

I win.

It doesn't look bad, especially considering it's from NBC.

It looks like it has potential but putting it up against UNDER THE DOME will likely prove fatal for it.

The premise sounded good, but then I watched the trailer (which is on YouTube now, by the way). The found footage aspect of the show looks so bad, and while I understand the idea behind making it 'look' like a reality show, I think I'm going to find the use of the camera too annoying to watch. And lots of those accents sound horrible.

The actual camera work doesn't bother me, but the "cameraman" aspect does. These guys don't need food or heat apparently.

mmm I might have the save problem with the moving camera, but I think I will check the pilot and decide from there...

hmmm looks like a scare tactics kinda thing to me. They probably planted actors in there of course to scare the shit out of the contestants. Yea I'll watch it, why not I loved lost and survivor is pretty cool still.

It's definitely a different kind of narrative that could have potential, but as a strong opposer of reality TV I have to say...BLEH.

I refuse to watch a TV show about a reality TV show. Aren't actual reality shows bad enough. I really don't care how good or bad this show turns out to be, it just shouldn't be watched on principle.

Is NBC the channel where all the shows go when they cant find another network to pick them up. Seriously this seems horribly wrong.

I'm not likely to watch because I really don't care for fake reality shows. I also tired of Survivor years ago. And I never cared to watch Lost anyways.

This kind of reminded me of 'Persons Unknown' that NBC ran a few summers ago. I'll DVR it to see if it's watchable, but I'm definitely watching 'Under The Dome'.

well, it happens always to us outside america because shows tend to start over there, but it is probably the same everywhere - go to youtube and type siberia trailer nbc - first link doesn't work, second one does - there is always someone nice enough to hang it on youtube for us! focus on that!

Damn you and your regions TV! Can't we all just be one global TV-watching community? Where's the love for your fellow man who can't watch his favorite show's trailers online or who is an entire season behind because it hasn't come out in his country yet? When will this oppression end? When can we watch TV in peace and harmony?

Yes, I was fascinated by the trailer before I even realized what it was, unfortunately, I am planning on watching this Under the Dome show and that is when Teen Wolf is on but fortunately or unfortunately for NBC, they put their shows on demand at midnight.

It's still not a great feature of the site if we have to navigate away from the page to find out what they're talking about.

I think that's why they try to put in youtube videos as much as they can on this site and as sadibwawa said they just embed the videos so it isn't really the site's fault

They embed video, they don't stream it. It is by definition not a feature of the site at all. It is a feature of some other site. If there were a better place to get the embedded videos one of you furriners would have suggested it by now. But there's not, because usually there's no legal way to stream the content they are talking about. If there is, they tend to use it. They've said this.
