NBC has cast British Michelle Ryan as the lead in the network's redo of the 1970s action series The Bionic Woman.
Ryan played the bombshell Zoe Slater from 2000 to 2005 on the BBC soap Eastenders.
The Bionic Woman ran for three years, from 1976 to 1978, first on ABC then on NBC for its last season. The show, a spin-off of the hit the Six Million Dollar Man, starred Lindsay Wagner as a woman who suffers a tragic skydiving accident and is turned into a bionic crime-fighting machine.
Ryan is not the only British import taking to American airwaves this fall. Sci-fi cop show Life On Mars, saucy relationship series Football Wives, gambling dramedy Viva Blackpool!, and family animal series Wild at Heart are all getting a Yankee makeover.

I really do not think she is a great actress, I guess she looks the part though.
I hope this isnt a remake but a continuance of it!!
If anyone is sad enough to watch Eastenders, they will recognise Ryan (no relation to Jeri, but same breast surgeon maybe?!) No doubt will be sexy, but do we need this remake? Really?
BTW Spangu is right on the money. Sorry David E, but you're wasting your time. Remember when Americans tried to make a version of Doctor Who? We've all tried our best to forget. Just run the BBC original and enjoy some superior drama. Or better yet, get a hold of the DVD (if you don't own a multi-region player you don't deserve to watch this kind of quality)
lol, will her nipple turn into machine guns?
Looks like they are going for a younger(smallville) audience than the original. Hopefully, it will be a serious take and not diminish the original which remains a favorite to many of us. Don't get me started on how upsetting the upcoming Six Million Dollar Man movie with Jim Carrey will be. Still I will be one of the first to tune in to watch this new version.
Count me in! For the pilot at least.. This chick is smokin' hot!
Really? Hey bring back the Incredible Hulk too.
This won't last.
David Eick is the man behind The Bionic Woman and it will probably be on SciFi (an NBC affiliated network). David Eick is currently helming Battlestar Galactica and there is also another project in the works.
Ryan is hot but it will be difficult for to learn how to act anything but nasty and grumpy. In Eastenders her face was always tripping her in a mardy state.
A remake of a spin-off? Man they must be getting desperate, still will wait to see how it works out.

Forget remaking "life on mars"....you cannot make a perfect thing any better! They should save themselves some budget money and just air the BBC version!
I live in the UK, and she's pretty rubbish. Her Eastenders character was annoying, but I hear she's been working hard since then.
hot picture *_*
Not to sure I’m from the UK, I’m not a fan of Eastenders or any kind of soap, so what I’ve not seen much of Michelle Ryan in action, that what I’ve seen is split 50/50, some times she is good others she just looked bad. Besides when did a television hit always need good actors, she great looking and has great body and shell look great in a cat suit, a tv execs wet dream. As long as they dont put some stupid sound effect when she jumps it may be watchable, but you would have thought they would have lernt there lesson with Jake 2.0 which bombed.
This sounds like a show for the SciFi channel or Fox and not NBC.
I'll have to reserve judgement ... Lindsay Wagner wasn't exactly an A-list actress when she won the roll ... but she has since been type cast.
The advantage is that technology won't make it as cheesy as the original and the storylines could have more depth as a result.
I'm pretty sure a show like this is supposed to be on one of the US networks sometime soon. . .
NB Michelle had rave stage reviews.
sean2mush your one of those positive people I have heard so much about. Michelle is ok as an actress. I predict she will be better than you think.
Never heard of her, but her cleavage looks bionic already...
interesting
I don't think that the show will be around long. I remember the first Bionic Woman show and I think the remake will have a lot to live up to.
thats an unusaul casting, she hasn't done anything else since she left eastenders. i predict the show will fail, she not that good an actress.
Wow what a picture!!
