TV.com's pick of the best TV shows on Aussie screens this week.

Australia v New Zealand Socceroos

Live. Ahead of their FIFA World Cup South Africa 2010 quest, the Socceroos take on New Zealand in this "friendly" match at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. What makes this much more interesting is it will be the first ever live sporting event to be broadcast in 3D on Australian television. To view it you will need a 3D television, Foxtel iQ2 and sports tier subscription. If you have all three you can view this on a special 3D channel (Channel 200) called FOX Sports 3D. The coverage will also screen on FOX Sports 3 (Channel 503) and FOX Sports 3HD (Channel 205) and with pre-match coverage from 6:30pm.

Airs: 7:20pm AEST Monday on FOX Sports3

Brothers & Sisters

Kevin (Matthew Rhys) and Scotty (Luke MacFarlane) indulge in a rather silly sub-plot in which they visit a fortune teller, hoping she can bring them news about becoming parents. The better storyline this week sees Ida (Marion Ross), mother of Nora (Sally Field) and Saul (Ron Rifkin), moving in with her daughter on the doctor's advice. There are gentle moments as both deal with her ageing and memory lapses, and they juggle a prickly mother and daughter relationship.

Airs: 9:30pm Monday on Seven

Modern Family

Our favourite new comedy this week sees Phil (Ty Burrell) buy a bike for son Luke (Nolan Gould) but responsibility is an issue Phil has to address by clumsy example. Mitchell (Jesse Tyler Ferguson) asks Cameron (Eric Stonestreet) to tone down his flamboyance at the local crèche -- never a good idea. And Jay (Ed O'Neill) becomes a better stepfather to Manny (Rico Rodriguez II).

Airs: 8pm Tuesday on TEN

Survivor: Heroes v Villains
Final. This season has been a mighty one, and it all comes down to whether Colby, Russell, Parvati, Jerri or Sandra will win the $1 million. This two-hour finale is followed by a one-hour reunion, which is where the winner will be declared. Can the nasty Russell take it all the way to the top or has he offended too many on the jury to assure him of the loot?

Airs: 8:40pm Tuesday on Nine

State of Origin

Live. The first of three mega-matches to be aired by Nine, and all three will be in 3D. First off it's NSW Blues vs Qld Maroons. This is the first 3D sports broadcast on free-to-air television anywhere in the world. If you have a 3D television and live in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide, Perth, Newcastle or Wollongong, get ready to share in a moment of TV history.

Airs: 7:30pm Wednesday on Nine

Final. And here we are. The most anticipated finale of the 2010 television year will rival endings for Cheers, The Sopranos and M*A*S*H. After six seasons we have finally reached the last mythological moment of the island, the Dharma Initiative, smoke monsters, polar bears, the hatch, flashbacks, numbers, Oceanic and a close-up of an eye -- but what does it all mean? This two-and-a-half-hour finale will be preceded by a "catch-up" special at 9:30pm Tuesday on 7TWO and repeated at 12 midday Wednesday on Seven.

Airs: 8:30pm Wednesday on Seven

American Idol
Final. They sing-off on Wednesday night, but it's Thursday that the winner for 2010 is declared. Can the favourite Crystal Bowersox fend off Lee Dwyze? Remember, we all presumed Adam Lambert would win last year and it never happened. But the real interest here is in this being Simon Cowell's last ever night on Idol -- expect a huge send off. Will Paula Abdul make a surprise appearance?

Airs: Airs: Live 10am, replayed 7:35pm Thursday on FOX8

Any Dream Will Do

Premiere. In truth this series is a few years old, but if you enjoyed How Do You Solve a Problem like Maria? then check out this follow-up series which hunts for the next star of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat. There's a parade of young hopeful guys singing for Andrew Lloyd Webber, John Barrowman and the judges.

Airs: 7:30pm Thursday on UKTV

Sometimes this episode is downright twisted in its ideas, the second part of this "Beauty and the Beast" tale. Now that Uther has fallen under the spell of the troll/Lady Catrina (Sarah Parish) and wedded her, the protesting Merlin is a wanted man. Parish has all the fun this week, showing she can switch from refined queen to grovelling troll in an instant.

Airs: 6:30pm Sunday on TEN

Eurovision Song Contest

Final. Good evening Europe! We are off to Oslo for the campest, most joyous music contest on television. SBS hosts Julia Zemiro and Sam Pang once again escort us through all 20 acts of the 2010 final. There are driving dance numbers from Albania, Iceland, Moldova, power ballads from Malta, Portugal, Norway and Georgia, while Lithuania combines funk with plaid pants, the Netherlands has a dated sing-along, and Romania features duelling glass pianos. Not all will make it to the Final so check the two Semi Finals on Friday and Saturday night. Expect favourites Germany or Azerbaijan to come out near the top. Deux points!

Airs: 7:30pm Sunday on SBS ONE
