Are You Smarter than a 5th Grader?
Final. If you're a fan of Rove and the kids, you'd better tune in this week -- it could be the last ever show. We'd hate to jinx it but the show has struggled to make an impact this year and unless it gets a renewal by TEN this could be class dismissed. Dr Chris Brown leads a charge all the way to the $500,000 question. Will he risk it all?
Airs: 7:30pm Monday on TEN
Sookie takes herself off to the Fellowship of the Sun with Hugo, in a bid to find out what they know about vampires. They pretend to be a couple looking for a church in which to be married, but the religious zealots have been tipped off to their plan. This won't be so simple. Meanwhile Lafeyette is still dealing with the trauma of being held captive by vampires and has lost some of his edge. While trying to work at the diner he's about to get an unexpected visit.
Airs: 8:30pm Tuesday on Showcase
The Seinfeld Reunion (Curb Your Enthusiasm)
Nine is being a bit cheeky here. This isn't a reunion in the traditional sense of the word. Yes, our four favourite friends are back on screen together, but it is for an episode of Larry David's Curb Your Enthusiasm. This is the third episode of Season 7, played out of sequence here because of its guest stars (GO! is screening Season 6). The plot, in which Larry tries to reunite the Seinfeld cast members as a ploy to win back his partner Cheryl. Likely to make very little sense played on its own.
Airs: 9pm Tuesday on Nine
Aussie Ladette to Lady
New series. Another round of bad girls behaving badly abroad as eight more locals are sent to the UK to be disciplined by Ms Gill Harbord and Ms Rosemary Shrager. Apparently one is the worst girl they've ever seen -- somehow we think it's a claim we've heard before, which is a bit like this series. If you enjoyed it's previous lashings of rude girls and horrified matronly women then check in for another dose. Otherwise avoid it like the plague.
Airs: 9:30pm Tuesday on Nine
Premiere. Stephen Fry, who was so entertaining in Stephen Fry in America, hosts this long-running panel show that finally comes to Australia. Joining him are a few other crusty blokes and Alan Davies (Jonathan Creek) as they banter about trivia all for the express purpose of coming up with a few gags. This is lilting fun, and the whole point is not to answer a question correctly but to come up with the most entertaining response. It's the perfect way to wind down your evening.
Airs: 9:30pm Tuesday on ABC1
John Safran's Race Relations
Premiere. Lookout, television's bad boy is back and he's already offended several in the media who have seen this first episode. We weren't quite so offended by his panties-sniffing or masturbating to a photo of Barack Obama, but it is certainly unlike anything else we've seen this year. The point of the show, in case it gets forgotten in the controversy, is to explore issues of cross-cultural attraction. Expect a bit of outrage this week, so tune in to make sure you are in the loop.
Airs: 9:30pm Wednesday on ABC1
It's "mash-up" week as Will divides his choristers into two teams: boys vs. girls. While the guys combine It's My Life and Confessions, the girls fuse Halo and Walking on Sunshine. Meanwhile, coach Sue tells Terri that her husband is the apple of Emma's eye, so she takes up a position as school nurse to keep an eye on him.
Airs: 7:30pm Thursday on TEN
The Amazing Race
We're still in Vietnam as teams make their way to a theatre with water puppets. They retrieve a clue that is nothing more than a postage stamp and have to figure out what it means. Naturally, that's too confusing for some! Later they are left to drag a bunch of animal statues through a lush city park, gathering balloons along the way. And in a typically Asian challenge, they will have to smash open a bunch of old VCRs.
Airs: 9:30pm Thursday on Seven
Rescue: Special Ops
Final. Another show we're wondering whether it will get renewed. Today is the day of Lara's (Gigi Edgley) wedding, but disaster strikes when a semi trailer full of fuel collides with a car. But chasing her is the stalker who has been terrorising the unit for weeks now. Most of the action scenes are pretty well handled, yet it's the final chapter that turns a bit too silly with some whacky characters and even worse lines. Thank goodness Dean (Les Hill) will be there to save us all from harm.
Airs: 8:30pm Sunday on Nine
