What to Watch This Weekend: Breaking Bad, Comic-Con 2012 Live, and Political Animals

Well, one thing's for sure: There's definitely more to watch this weekend than there was last weekend! Premieres, specials, finales! It's all here! Here's what you have to look forward to this weekend:

What to watch on Friday, July 13...

2012 Tour de France
It's good to be a team player. Tuning into the Tour de France to check on your country's team is one way to be just that. They may not hear you chanting at them through the television set, but they'll feel you. It's true, cyclists are known to be the most clairvoyant athletes in the world. Don't fact-check me on that.

The Ricky Gervais Show
Oh man, it's over. Now we'll have one less hilarious thing to watch on Friday nights. Sad. But there's no use harping on the future when we've got one last episode to laugh at, or with, or at. In tonight's "The Year," Stephen describes what's so embarrassing about buying condoms and Karl discusses his thoughts on insects before reading excerpts from his diary. Awe.

Tyler Perry's For Better or Worse
You know, it feels like I just saw Tyler Perry—oh wait, I did. TBS has been airing Tyler Perry's House of Payne in this same exact time slot to pave the way for tonight's premiere. I'm not the only one who thinks Mr. Perry secretly owns TBS, right? In tonight's episode, "Waiting for Larry White," Marcus and Angela are still working out their trust issues and Tynik gets a job renovating a salon. Commence endearing comedy!

10pm, USA
Common Law
Did you miss this last week? Then you'll be glad to hear the odd-couple cop duo is back. After investigating a shooting involving a police officer on duty, Travis and Wes are tasked with looking after the injured cop's dog. Why does every episode's storyline start off sounding like a romantic comedy? I've got a half a mind to suggest that this show's Season 1 finale will end with a massive Wes-on-Travis make out sesh. ...Not that I'd be against that or anything.

What to watch on Saturday, July 14...

Comic-Con 2012 Live
You couldn't be there, that much is obvious—if you could, you wouldn't be reading this. And if you are there, stop reading about what's on TV and start tweeting about all the suspect zombies walking around! Anyway. For those of us who weren't blessed with a ticket, hotel room, and flight down to San Diego this weekend, DON'T PANIC: G4 is going to air a four-hour special featuring the best of what's around at the convention center this weekend, from stars to costumes to toys. If you're out and about on Saturday and don't have access to your DVR, G4 will air reruns throughout the weekend, starting at 8pm Saturday night. Holler!

The Firm
Everything this season has built up to so far is about to come to a head. As Ray and Tammy prepare to walk down the isle, a new enemy emerges from the crowd. And just as Patrick Walker's trial starts, Mitch makes a shocking discovery that could dramatically alter the outcome of the case. Will this all get resolved tonight, or will they leave us cliff-hanging?

PREMIERE, 10pm, Science
Dark Matters: Twisted but True
Believe it or not, there are actual things that have happened in this world that are frankly unimaginable. Dark Matters explores such things. And in it's second season return, host John Noble (Fringe fans, represent!) will explore said things by featuring real historical science experiments that were so inconceivable, they bordered on insane. In Saturday's episode, Noble will describe experiments belonging to an American Nazi, a living organ donor, and Charles Lindbergh. I've already got goosebumps. Somebody get me out of the freezer section!

What to watch on Sunday, July 15...

Season 5 returns with "The (Very) Big Bird Job"—the "bird," of course, refers to the poorly equipped airplane that the team cons a greedy shipping CEO into buying in an effort to take him down. Not sure whether or not "lemon laws" apply to aircrafts, but when the plane inevitably crashes, the CEO is forced to admit that his compulsion to cut back on company spending was the reason for the crash. Yeesh. Try living with that for the rest of your life, guy!

9pm, HBO
True Blood
After last week's insatiably addictive episode, Sunday night's "Hopeless" gives us, well, hope(?) that we'll get hit with another dose of awesome this weekend. Here's all that we get to look forward to: The Authority is coming for Bill and Eric, Sookie is overwhelmed by a feeling of foreboding, Terry victimizes himself by attributing his troubles to a curse, Roman divulges his plans for Russell, Sam lends a hand to Andy, Pam breaks up a fight, Ruby Jean gets a visit from Lafayette, and J.D. gets challenged by Alcide. Holy plot points, that's a lot of ground to cover!

Breaking Bad
He is the one who knocks! We are the ones who answer! Walter White is back, and so the realization that he's got a whole lot of cleaning up to do. As he attempts to wash-and-scrub all of that nastiness the explosion left in its wake, Hank wraps up his investigation of Gus. The episode is titled "Live Free or Die," which is appropriate because once again Walter will choose—as he always does—to, well, not die.

Political Animals
Oh my good gracious it's a new USA show, and it's about politics! In the series premiere, we meet Secretary of State Elaine Barries, who has given her approval to allow a journalist to follow her around for a week. And why not? She's got nothing to hide—except for her dark family secrets and the decisions she's about to make dealing with an Iranian hostage situation. Boy is that journalist about to get a promotion.

SERIES PREMIERE, 11:30pm, Adult Swim
Black Dynamite
If you saw the movie, you know: This new animated series about a 1970s Renaissance man who doesn't think before he acts, and usually acts by lashing out in Kung-Fu, is the perfect fit for Adult Swim's Sunday night lineup. The premiere episode is called "Jackson Five Across Yo' Eyes or Just Beat It." Uh, if that's not enough to lure you in, you can beat it!
