What to Watch Today: Memorial Day Marathons, Hatfields & McCoys, and The Bachelorette

What to watch on Monday, May 28...

Honestly, not judging, but shouldn't you be outside right now? It's nice! (Right?) There's gotta be a BBQ or something. I don't know. Anyway, if being out-of-doors isn't really an option, then there's always this stuff:

9pm, ABC
The Bachelorette
Tonight the Bachelors accompany Emily to Dollywood where they'll be serenaded by Dolly Parton herself! Also there's a performance by singer Luke Bryan, but he is no Dolly Parton obviously. Then the guys have to prove their parenting meddle via participation in children's activities. Oh, and three of them will get the boot. But who?? Call your bookie and get those bets in!

9pm, NBC
American Ninja Warrior
Tonight's NBC broadcast of American Ninja Warrior brings us the Midwest Region finals. How many of these studly monkey men will make nationals? (Answer: 15 of them.) But which ones? Dang, your bookie's gonna be hearing from you A LOT tonight. (Gambling is an addiction, FYI. We're worried about you.)

MINISERIES PREMIERE, 9pm, History
Hatfields & McCoys
Tonight History gets all prestigious with its original programming when it unveils the first part of this big budget three night event! Kevin Costner stars as one of the patriarchs in the legendary Hatfield-McCoy squabble that nearly wiped out an entire neighborhood that one time in the '80s. (The 1880s.)

Well, there was a marathon of "The Unit" on cable all Monday. I forget the channel, but it was 567 on FIOS in my area.

That was nice, as I hadn't seen some of those older episodes in a while. And it went along with the Memorial Day theme a little.

Since Fox has decided to cancel The Finder, I will be watching it On Demand until it is no longer available on my DVR. www.savethefinder.org and sign the petition to save the show.

Eh, to each their own. I thought it was alright and watched it from time to time. But it didn't really pull me in. A few people I've talked to said something similar: ok but not great.

So I'm not really surprised it got the axe.

Summer drought. I guess I'll have to start my Fringe marathon (season 4) today. The Nikita marathon (season 2) is up after I finish the Fringe one.

God Summer TV is a load of sh*t. The only thing resembling good TV is SP on Comedy Central from 9am-10:30 pm. I miss Winter already.

WTF?! Extreme Couponing?!

It is a thing. Combining coupons to pay pennies for something, etc. When I was young we called it being poor.

I hope on the Mrs. Eastwood & Company show when the camera crew shows up outside the house that Clint Eastwood steps out of the house, pulls a shotgun on them and tells them "GET OFF MY LAWN!"

Excellent! Two minutes - end of series. Best "reality" show ever!

Reruns of Grimm (NBC's showing the pilot) and Antiques Roadshow, part of the various marathons (NCIS, The Golden Girls, etc)...

Thanks on Grimm - maybe I'll start with that on this week's rerun viewing.

It has begun.

The interminable TV wasteland when fall shows have ended and summer shows have yet to start premiering. The next few weeks will be a trial for us all.

I just pray we have the strength to endure.
