What to Watch Tonight: 30 Rock's Final Season Premiere, Person of Interest, and Glee

What to watch on Thursday, October 4...

Hey look it's, me again! It's too bad I can't do that nose wiggle like Samantha on Bewitched and freeze time, because tonight's TV lineup is seriously stacked:

SEASON 7 PREMIERE, 8pm, NBC
30 Rock
This is the final season for Tina Fey's satirical look at working on an NBC sketch show. Aw man, aren't we all going to miss her once it's over? But hey, Bryan Cranston is going to guest-star this year! Until then, in tonight's episode, "The Beginning of the End," Liz is stunned by the poor quality of programming Jack has planned for the fall and Jenna asks Liz to be a bridesmaid.

8:30pm, NBC
Up All Night
SNL alum Rachel Dratch makes an appearance tonight as Linda, an avid fan of Ava's. Meanwhile, Chris and Reagan try to prove that they're adventurous. What do you think constitutes a true adventure? Kite surfing? Ice Climbing? Standing underneath an elephant without being trampled?

9pm, Fox
Glee
Let me let you in on a big secret: I unironically like Glee. The singing, the adorably cheesy moments, and the melodrama... The soundtrack to tonight's episode, "The Break-up," will include an acoustic version of Katy Perry's "Teenage Dream," Coldplay's "The Scientist," and Demi Lovato's "Give Your Heart A Break." Which of the show's couples do you think are headed for splitsville?

9pm, CBS
Person Of Interest
In "Bad Code," Reese investigates a cold case that leads him closer to Finch and his kidnapper, Root. Plus Margo Martindale (Justified) makes a guest appearance as a woman from Root's past.

SEASON 6 PREMIERE, 10pm, MTV
Jersey Shore
Tonight the gang kicks off their final season of GTL'ing as The Situtation talks about his recovery, Deena deals with her long-distance relationship, and Snooki adjusts to being in pregnant in a party house.

Thursdays make up for Tuesdays, this is by far the busiest night of television I have ever had: 30 Rock, Glee, Last Resort, The Big Bang Theory, Project Runway and Elementary (only if it gets a good TV.com review). When Beauty and the Beast comes in which I want to check out for Kristin Kruek, it will get even busier.

Who was the person who compared Elementary to BBC's Sherlock? No, seriously, I just wasted 42 minutes watching the premiere, waiting desperately for it not to be your typical US procedural (which I should have figured out it wasn't when I solved the case after 15 minutes, waiting for the cast to catch up) and now I wanna smack someone. Ehrm, of course I'm kidding. Well, sort of. But what I'm serious about is the fact that Elementary (at least the premiere) is nowhere near the quality of the BBC series and I could start explaining why but I guess no one would bother reading a text that long. So please don't even try to mention the two in the same sentence! Thank you. Sincerely, estella87

Kudos for lasting 42 minutes. I was out 7 mins in. It's just unbearable. And sad. It just makes you feel sad in your soul.

EDITOR: Children's Hospital is on Adult Swim, not Lifetime. Also, Children's Hospital is followed by a new episode of NTSF:SD:SUV::.

PS - welcome to the job, Anngie.

Do people really still talk about "ironically" and "unironically"? Isn't that noise over by now? It's so gauche.

Me watch: 30 Rock, Big Bang Theory, 2.5 Men (thinking about dropping this one finally), The Office, Children's Hospital, NTSF:SD:SUV::, Craig Ferguson, Daily Show, Colbert.

Last Resort, Person of interest and 30 Rock. Maybe Elementary.

I think Last Resort deserved a bigger mention in the article. It's the second episode of the best new show this year, and it's already likely to be canceled because of low ratings. Don't give up on it as long as it's on the air and still good.

I agree, it was by far the best pilot this year and while I am not entirely sure how they can sustain quality of the storyline over multiple seasons because it really looks more like a one season special than anything else, I am extremely excited to see what they do next.

Hopefully Person of Interest won't be spending the season with a kidnapped Finch. That could make the show a turn-off for me because it would make him unnecessary and likely mean he disappears from the show.
Reply

Appearently Reese rescues Finch tonight.

I would be surprised. This seems more like a 3-episode arc. Michael Emerson is probably making at least 300K per episode, so I doubt that he would quit. Plus, he's awesome, so it's even less likely that he would get fired.
Reply
Flag
Agree. It was always presented as a two lead show and is build around that. And as awesome as both actors and the show itself is, I think neither Caviezel nor Emerson could carry the show alone.

COLLEGE IS BRUTAL!

Is it weird that I want to comment on this site more than I want to do schoolwork? Ever since I started going to college this September my comment to article ratio has taken a big hit and I don't like it! I haven't even had to time to read any recent articles or comments. I miss you guys and your crazy/awesome opinions.

SCREW IT!

I'm going to make a concerted effort to read and comment on Thursdays shows. Schoolwork and grades be damned!

What I'm Watching Tonight: Person of Interest, Last Resort and Elementary.

I take classes Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays. How awful that Sundays, Tuesdays and Thursdays are the most packed of the nights. :( (Bad for last minute/day studying lol)
Reply

I sometimes end up watching shows the next day..which sucks. I love watching shows right when it hits the torrents.
Reply

I'm Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, too! Mondays are by far the worst, though. I'm stuck at college from 8am-5pm with a couple hour breaks in between classes.

And I also love watching shows live or torrent them the same night they air. It really sucks. There are so many Sunday shows I'd love to comment on, but the bitch that is Monday will never die.

I always put TV.com before my college schoolwork.

Then again, I seemed to have put everything before college schoolwork.
