What to watch on Monday, December 16...
8pm & 8:30pm, ABC
Prep & Landing
Seasoned elf Wayne (Dave Foley) meets his chipper rookie partner just before a blizzard wreaks havoc on Christmas Eve in this animated special. It’s followed at 8:30pm by the sequel Prep and Landing: Naughty vs. Nice, which finds Wayne enlisting the aid of his estranged brother to solve another Christmastime kerfuffle.
A hospital patient correctly predicts his exact time of death, which is the coolest bar trick you can only ever perform once. The shady circumstances of his expiration send Kennex and Dorian on the trail of an underground organ-trading ring in “Arrhythmia.”
The season’s bright-eyed songbirds give it their all in the final round of live performances.
How I Met Your Mother
One wedding-goer (Andrew Rannells) vexes the gang with all manner of mischief in “Bass Player Wanted,” and the only way to get rid of him is to say his name backwards. Meanwhile, Marshall finally arrives at the inn after a road trip that seemed to last 13 damn weeks.
2 Broke Girls
In “And the French Kiss,” Caroline sucks face with Max’s pastry school teacher for kicks. Then she discovers a horrifying fact about the guy and reacts… well, pretty much like this.
A baseball scout is found belly-up in his RV in “Curve Ball,” calling the squad back into the office on what’s supposed to be their Christmas break. Geez, murderers can be so inconsiderate sometimes.
Ice Age: A Mammoth Christmas Special
When an overeager Sid accidentally ruins Manny’s holiday decorations, the whole gang must brave the frigid wilds of the North Pole to make sure the remorseful sloth doesn’t wind up on Santa’s naughty list. Thus, by both ruining and saving Christmas, they preserve balance and harmony in the animated universe.
Dragons: Gift of the Night Fury
The townsfolk are perplexed when Berk’s scaly defenders up and vamoose out of the blue. Can Hiccup and his friends solve the mystery of their abrupt departure? I mean, probably. They’ve got a franchise to protect here, after all.
Mike & Molly
After taking a bullet in the line of duty, Mike ruminates on his mortality in “They Shoot Asses, Don’t They?” His new outlook prompts him to reconsider his career on the police force.
Jon Cryer arrives from another corner of the Lorreverse to direct “Corned Beef and Handcuffs,” which sees Bonnie and Chef Rudy striking up a courtship—and Christy caught smack dab in the middle.
The seven remaining groups step into their Wayback Machines to retrieve classic tunes with era-spanning appeal.
“Playwright: From Page to Stage” chronicles the journeys of two young theater scribes striving to procure development financing and get their works produced.
10:30pm, Cartoon Network
Rick and Morty
A homeless man requires aid in “Anatomy Park,” and Rick has just the right device—though it may put Morty in a sticky situation.

Another batch of holiday snippets includes the shocking true backstory of Heat Miser and Cold Miser, the arduous job interview process at Santa’s workshop, and an intrusion on World War I’s storied Christmas Truce.
