What to watch on Tuesday, July 2...
So You Think You Can Dance
Two of the Top 20 contestants are eliminated after a thorough round of swingin’ and swayin’, records playin’, and dancin’ in the street. Or on the stage, as it were. Look, I don’t write the songs.
8pm, ABC Family
Pretty Little Liars
A bright-eyed new detective blows into town, determined to gain a clear understanding of what’s going down in Rosewood, and a clearer definition of “fool’s errand” you would be hard-pressed to find. Also on the docket in “Face Time”: A continues to wreak havoc on Emily’s parents, Hanna recoils from Caleb’s offer of assistance, Aria and Jake’s night out takes a turn for the awkward, and Spencer schemes against Melissa.
9pm, ABC Family
Lacey is perturbed when her mom invites Jo to her sleepover in “Sleeping With the Frenemy,” but Jo seizes the opportunity to gather intel from Regina’s friends. Karen’s own attempts at socializing meet with an uglier fate when Regina’s mother gives her hell, and Danny doesn’t fare much better with his new soccer teammates.
The Power of Veto competition is on the agenda. I can’t be the only person who thinks this will be exponentially more entertaining if the winner raises a spork to the sky and bellows “I... HAVE... THE POWER!” in full-on He-Man mode.
Rizzoli & Isles
“In Over Your Head” finds a muckracking student journalist dealt the ultimate —30—, but Jane is preoccupied by a former colleague’s unwelcome return to the drug unit. Meanwhile, Maura investigates Hope after being fed a stunning tip.
When a woman alleges that her husband was nabbed by extraterrestrials in “Alienation,” Pierce and Moretti probe the matter. (Go ahead and groan. You’ll feel better.) In personal affairs, Pierce and his real-life girlfriend kick things up a notch, though his imaginary one continues to play the third wheel. I can relate to at least one of those situations.
Could the title “The Busted Episode” refer to the revelation that Tasha has been stepping out with Rick? Or to the damage that said revelation may do to her relationship with Pookie? Or even to the row between Jason and Chardonnay, which might get so out of control that all furniture in their wake is reduced to mere kindling? Perhaps it’s one of those titles that works on multiple levels. Well played, The Game.
SEASON 1 FINALE, 10:30pm, Comedy Central
Inside Amy Schumer
“Sex Tips” finds Amy in search of the most alluring aphrodisiac advice imaginable. Although considering she finds herself in bed with two guys elsewhere in the episode, she must not be doing too badly for herself as it is.
