What to Watch Tonight: FX Travels to Fargo, S.H.I.E.L.D. Deals With Change, and The Originals, POI, and Supernatural All Return

What to watch on Tuesday, April 15...

SEASON 4 PREMIERE, 8pm, PBS
Pioneers of Television
“Standup to Sitcom” profiles comics who have translated their stage shows to small screen success, including Jerry Seinfeld, Roseanne Barr, Tim Allen, Ray Romano, and Bob Newhart.

8pm, The CW
The Originals
As Elijah applies some elbow grease to rejuvenating his home, Genevieve seeks his permission for the coven to throw a traditional feast celebration. Meanwhile in “The Big Uneasy,” Klaus dispatches a werewolf from his line on a fetch quest, and Hayley finds her loyalties divided.

8pm, CBS
NCIS
Was a murdered Navy officer in the wrong place at the wrong time, or was he targeted because he knew too much about another violent incident? That’s what the team must determine in “Alleged.” Hopefully DiNozzo and McGee’s new juice cleanse regimen won’t sap them of their deductive powers.

8pm, Fox
Glee
“Tested” sends the fellas to the clinic to check for STDs—and one of them comes away with bad news. In other health concerns, Blaine’s “freshman 15” strains his relationship with Kurt.

SPECIAL TIME, 9pm, ABC
Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.
Following a repeat of “Turn, Turn, Turn,” last week’s status quo-shatterer/tie-in with Captain America: The Winter Soldier at 8pm, “Providence” picks up withe Coulson’s team adjusting to the new world order. And with Col. Glenn Talbot (Adrian Pasdar) leading a dogged pursuit, will even the assistance of guest-star Patton Oswalt be enough to keep them a step ahead?

9pm, The CW
Supernatural
Supernatural titling an episode “Meta Fiction” is like Supernatural titling an episode “Sam and Dean Bicker and Also One of Them Has a Secret,” yet here we are. While Metatron tries to convince Castiel to team up, the Winchesters get their mitts on Gadreel.

9pm, NBC
About a Boy
“About a Slopmaster” finds a newly flush Will treating Marcus to a shopping spree, then organizing a blowout bash to catch Sam’s eye. In less extravagant business, Fiona takes charge of a project for Marcus’s class that seeks to replicate Dickensian London.

9pm, Fox
New Girl
Jess and Nick try to keep their split under wraps in “Big News,” so of course it’s only a question of whether the whole loft learns about it by the second act break or the third. Winston, for his part, can’t call enough attention to his success on the police academy entrance exam—and he expects a full celebration to boot.

9:30pm, Fox
The Mindy Project
Say, you know what Mindy could use? Another guest dude you recognize from other TV comedies. O hai, Max Greenfield! So you’re playing a rakish grade-school teacher who works his charms on Mindy at a bar in “Think Like a Peter”? Sounds about right, carry on then.

SERIES PREMIERE, 10pm, FX
Fargo
Billy Bob Thornton and Martin Freeman lead the cast in this limited series adapted from the Coen brothers’ 1996 Midwestern noir. “The Crocodile’s Dilemma” opens with a chance meeting between two very different men that sets off a devastating chain of events.

10pm, NBC
Chicago Fire
Tragedy ripples through the firehouse in “A Heavy Weight,” compounded by Dawson’s receipt of a suicide note. Elsewhere, Severide probes Bloom's sordid history, and Chief Boden enlists Shay’s help after getting worrisome news.

10pm, BET
The Game
Keira helps Chardonnay arrange a no-expenses-spared vow-renewal ceremony in “Mommy Dearest.” In less romantic pursuits, Pookie and Tasha butt heads, and Malik and Yana knock boots.

10pm, CBS
Person of Interest
Reese poses as a Secret Service agent in “Death Benefit,” although it could be a stretch for him to pull off the whole “exceptionally trained, taciturn man in a suit” vibe. His goal: Find out how a U.S. congressman can help the team deep-six Decima’s plans for Machine #2.

SEASON 3 PREMIERE< 10pm, ABC
Celebrity Wife Swap
From the “I’m Contractually Obligated to Inform You of The Existence of This Program” file, please express your preferred emotion to the former flame of Daniel Baldwin trading places with the wife of Jermaine Jackson.

SEASON 4 PREMIERE, 10pm, MTV
Awkward.
In the hour-long “No Woman Is an Island,” Jenna prepares to start senior year with a clean slate—assuming her renewed dalliance with Matty doesn’t complicate that plan. (Spoiler alert: It will.)

10:30pm, Comedy Central
Inside Amy Schumer
Amy sets sail for India and also seeks romance closer to home in “A Chick Who Can Hang.”

LATE-NITE:
– Nathan Fillion, Tatiana Maslany, and Dan Soder on Conan, 11pm, TBS
– Marlon Wayans on Chelsea Lately, 11pm, E!
– Wendie Malick and Jim Rash on The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson, 12:37am, CBS
